<ahem> Attention everyone.
Well, A2A (according to ADX, complete with video) has announced their next airplane. Wait for it....
Wait........................
Still Wait........................
The CESSNA 182 SKYLANE TURBOCHARGED!!!!
Man, sure am glad they're doing something we don't already have. I would have been really ticked had they announced... say... a Comanche, or Aztec, or Navajo, or.....................
I'm sure it will be nice. But....

Breathtaking news. For those expressing an interest in the 'Travelair', looks like that's next up for G.A.S. Mentioned at SOH.

Man Don, you'd have to think so. They even started on a Comanche a couple of years back then dropped it without a word. What we need is for every single developer to do another 172 and 152. We're a little short on those. What we don't need is an Aztec, Navajo, Aero Commander, etc., because, well, because we don't have those now and why would we want to change that (**CAUTION - watch for dripping sarcasm!). Jeez.
Ditto Fritz. Me neither.

(**CAUTION - watch for dripping sarcasm!) Penecillin'll fix that. Not in this context it won't. A much stronger medicine is required... /cue the responses/

I must admit, I'm sorely tempted. I loved the 182 IRL and see them all the time in our hangar. If it's half as good as the 172 of A2A' (and I'm sure it is), it would sure make for a nice addition for GA flying. Thinking hard on this one.

It's definitely worth the money Fritz. If I'm willing to shell out $30 to $40 for Carenado, this one is easily worth the extra $. I've just been spending some time with their 172 (which I've had for a while) and honestly, it's better in every aspect. Frankly, it's teaching me and reminding me of how a light airplane is supposed to feel again. We've always talked about how good Carenado's graphics are, but these guys have them beat even in that department. It's no competition in every other department of course. Their FDE's are dead on without a doubt, although in some areas you'd have to have flown the real thing to recognize the differences, but they are very significant. I've been searching for the "holy grail" of flight simming, namely trying to get the immersion back. For me that's key, and it's been gone for a while now. I've been throwing money at this sim like crazy in an attempt to find some scenario that "works" for me, and mostly trying to find it in ops and airplanes. So far, for the most part, all I've gotten is poorer in the pocket book. I've long thought that the likes of Dave, you, Don, etc. are going about this in a far more intelligent fashion than I in being more selective what they spend their money on in the way of aircraft. Vector 1.2 has made a huge difference to me in terms of the scenery end of things regarding immersiveness, so that's given me some hope. On the aircraft side, I found it interesting that when I stepped back into the 172 and found that all the buttons and knobs worked as they should, and that you had to start it the right way (although it's finickier than any 172 I ever flew, but I won't hold that against them ), etc., I found I was much more into the flight than I've been in a while. I'm now toying with the idea of dumping all the airplanes that just don't do it for me, dumping any/all ops that I've been trying to get into (but have failed, and at the moment, this even includes Air Caribou) and setting up something I can really identify with. It's a big step so I'm taking a day to think about it, but if I do go this route, the A2A 182 will definitely be in the picture. I do have something in mind that will replace all the "commercial" ops that will be a lot more "real" to me, which is a good thing (and makes for better PIREP's), but the tradeoff is that I don't get to fly a bunch of the planes that I kind of always wanted to fly but never got the chance to. Anyway, it's something I'm thinking about, but I'm starting to think that for me, maybe spending $50 on another A2A machine and calling it quits there (until they come out with the next model that I would be interested in) and spending time exploring scenery instead of airplanes might be a better way to go. Times, they are a-changin' .
