The wait is over for V1.2 of this software. All the rivers, lakes, coastlines in North America are supposedly there. 5.3 GB so it'll be a while yet.

Will do. Probably won't be tonight - still another 1.5 hours to go.

Alaska was my main concern since it was where my RL flying mainly occurred. Looks like the missing rivers are there - on some of the smaller ones they lost parts of the headwaters. 5.3 gigs is a lot of data even for the US and Canada so, based on the little I've seen, I'll venture that all areas will be good.

I've just had a really quick look, but in the old Air Caribou country, it's dead on. Extremely impressed. All the lakes and rivers seem to be there. Dramatically better and with the lakes freezing by region, it's likely going to prove better than UTX. So far, from what I've seen (not much), roads are very accurate. I think this may be a game changer.

First and foremost what is available for download at the moment is an update version of 1.20. You have to have VECTOR patched to v1.15 prior to running the update. Now for those who have avoided VECTOR until now you can wait for "a few days", quoting JV's post today, and there will be a v1.20 for sale that is a stand alone version. No date given as this time.

I've been avoiding Vector, et. al. and will probably continue to do so. I mainly fly in the Orbx regions and so I just can't justify the shekels. Unless there's a quite an impressive improvement.

Yeah, if you're flying only in the fat regions, there's no reason to get Vector or OpenLC. As for an "impressive" improvement, I have to say, it is truly impressive. It's probably the best upgrade to FSX that I've seen in some time. It actually outdoes UTX by a considerable amount, based on what I've seen so far, which admittedly isn't that much. I will say though, you might start seeing signs of the old Air Caribou riding again before too long, as I did have a look around Big Trout Lake and whatnot, and it's pretty damn good up there. OpenLC NA will help further, but this is quite a dramatic improvement in itself. Like I said though, I've only poked around 3 or 4 locations, but none have disappointed. Rankin Inlet area, Fall Rankin Inlet area, Summer.

Oh crap --- MORE money going out of my pocket! LOL! I am running UTX US and Canada. What do I need to get what you have? Is it LC, Vector? Icing too??? Inquiring minds want to know. BP;)

That's a good point, icing. What about the way the water freezes with Vector and/or LC? I seem to remember that there were questions about that a while back.

Ok, what I have is mesh (FS Genesis), Vector 1.2 and Global. I'll get OpenLC when (if??) it ever comes out so I have better LC, but right now LC isn't bad for much of North America. The ice comes from Vector 1.2 and is "selective". The lakes and rivers will freeze according to region. For example, the lakes around Big Trout are now all frozen, but in Muskoka and Wawa, no. The lakes are still open. Freezing will (if it works correctly) occur further south later in the season. You'll never see ice in Florida. This is unlike UTX which freezes everything, everywhere (including the Caribbean). How well all this works is an unknown at this point, but I'll know more in a few days. I'm "cautiously optimistic" though.

Although it takes Pilots a tad long to put out updates they are trying to improve their product and from what they say will continue with v1.3 in the future so any anomalies will be corrected hopefully in the future.

OK. I'll look into making that change. How does all of this affect the performance, ie. FPS, etc.

Here's the Kuskokwim River at McGrath, stiff as a board. This is Global, Vector and waiting for LC NA.
