Looks like a big update to Vector has been released. Sounds like it will take some time to D/L and load, so do the deed when you're not in a hurry .

Thanks. Do you have to D/L it through FTX Central? Aieee!

Just did it - completely pain free, while watching Congress haggling over our health - not so pain free.

@fritz - they recommend it, but you don't have to. Check their Announcements forum for details on how to manually do it.
@dave - "If they are liken to die, best they do it and decrease the surplus population." (Scrooge - Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol and implied by Donald Trump, President of the USA... sort of...). Best of luck with that man.

Disreguard all that you see below. It appears that the VECTOR upgrade is a complete fiasco. All sorts of posts about VECTOR not working after the update to 1.51. Not only that but by the time I posted a reply my VECTOR has disappeared from FTX Central, my HD (and I'm checking pockets right now!! ) Looks as if ORBX and the all inclusive FTX Central has finally done and upchuck to us. I repeat, IF you have not updated VECTOR yet stay with what ya got! I'm sure there will be a fix for the whole debacle but as of this min. she's a bust! Strange as it seems I got the D/L the first time with NO PROBLEM FTX Central just purred and putted right through the D/L as if it knew I had my AR pointed at the screen! Perhaps ORBX has finally managed to fix FTX Central v3. No doubt in my mind that prior to this it has had problems with downloading files.
I had read a post on ORBX awhile back and when I saw the notice of a new VECTOR release I opened Central, clicked on Settings. I then made sure that "Use multiple threads for downloads" was UNTICKED and then clicked on the Clear Temp button. Switched back to the main page and in the GLOBAL section I clicked the update available button that was showing. Central genuflected, and downloaded the file like a good puppy!! Actually was impressed for the first time.

What kind of download speeds are you seeing? I usually get around 2.5 Mbs. Maybe three. But I'm a cheapskate. The last time I was in the US the hotel where I stayed provided 7.5 Mbs of D/L speed with the room, so I was wondering if those kind of D/L speeds are usual in North America?

Solved! more posts on the VECTOR problem with the solution being that you need to delete the old VECTOR files completely (on your HD and from the ORBX\FTX_VECTOR folder)then I went to ORBX Direct and re-downloaed VECTOR via Central v3. It was a good boy but no speed demon like earlier. Took over an hour but its back and working at least.

And this is explained where on Orbx?
Thanks Spud. I think I'll wait until I have more time and am feeling braver. As I keep saying, if FSX is corrupted to the point where it needs a reinstall, that'll be it for me. So I'm pretty cautious about what I do now. Appreciate you being the test case in this. I'll appreciate it when Orbx gets their shit together and starts making this so you don't have to be a computer geek to install their stuff, which FTX Central was supposed to be doing for us. Sheesh.

Actually FSX wasn't harmed at all by the boondoggle caused by Central. Just that VECTOR was rendered unusable by the first update. Only requirement, at least yesterday, is to delete the old version of VECTOR before D/L and install of updating to v1.51. I have not been to the ORBX forums this morning so if anything has changed I'm not aware.

Are you using "Add or Remove Programs" in your Control Panel to do that Spud?

If you have not yet D/L the VECTOR v1.51 update it is now safe to do so. If you have theFIRST update there is a solution that reguires deleting 8 files. Cut n' Paste of Ed's post:
Important information:
If you are receiving errors after this update in the AEC auto-scan function, please do a search in the ORBX\FTX_VECTOR folder for these files:
APT_BISF.inactive
APT_BIAR.inactive
APT_BINF.inactive
APT_BIRK.inactive
ABP_BISF.inactive
ABP_BIAR.inactive
ABP_BINF.inactive
ABP_BIRK.inactive
If present, delete them and the AEC auto-scan should work.
Apologies for the inconvenience but this will be a temporary work around while we work with Pilots to understand why these files are causing the issue.
Cheers, Ed
