Anyone here using Opus for a weather program, and if so, how do you like it (particularly if you can compare it with ASN)?
Thanks.

I've used Opus for quite a while. I can't offer a comparison though, since I haven't used any other third party weather solution other than what came with REX (and was so bad from the start it drove me to Opus in the first place.)
It takes some setup and careful following of procedures (ex.: launch sim, then launch Opus) but I've found it seems to work well. And since it doesn't include graphics, it will use whatever you have loaded for weather graphics, be they stock or third party.
Opus also can be set up to provide additional or custom camera locations, control your TracIR (if you use that hardware), and can have live or custom weather schemes displayed. Transitions are smooth, and with the volumetric fog capabilities of P3D v2 or 3, cloud and fog layers are very realistic.
I'm sure ASN does as much or more, so it's kind of an apples or oranges thing. Take your pick!

Thanks Sandy. Can you opt to not use the live camera?

Got it mainly to replace "Ezdok" camera which was always close but no cigar. Their (Opus) cameras are much more user friendly and, if you're into screenshots, are a must. All I've used in the weather area is getting a dynamic (actual) weather update prior to takeoff - lots more to it and further study is required. How it compares to ASN - don't have a clue. One area that's outstanding is support - they have their own section on "Simforums" - and are very reponsive. Using REX4 textures so what you see is what REX provides - they could use some more realistic stratiform clouds.

I really like ASN for my weather, but I've been interested in Opus for the camera work. I'm getting bored with my usual screenshots . After dropping a C-note on Garmins lately, I think I might wait until later -Scott

The Garmin GTN's are really, really nice though . Probably the best add-ons I've bought in a long time -Scott
