Man, I love the Lear (and suspect I'll get to like the MU2 a whole lot as well), but one thing I don't like that much is the update process from Flysimware. You have to redownload the airplane completely again for each update. Now I bought it from Flysimware's store so I'd have quick access to all the latest updates (which have been numerous and significant - you sure can't say Flysimware "dump's and runs"!), but I've run into a problem with this methodology. I'm getting messages now, as I try to download V1.7 (a very significant update!) that I've used up my allotted number of downloads. So how is it you can use up your allotted downloads when you've only downloaded it about 6 times (I'm on V1.6) but that's the only way to get the updates? I read on the forum this only happens rarely (somehow I seem to be falling into that "very few have this problem" issue a great deal with these folks), and to email them if it does happen, which I have done. Apparently there's a safeguard against piracy and flooding (whatever that is) that triggers this problem (a problem at least for those of us with legitimate copies) and they give you a work-around which will allows you to get the updates. I only hope this "work-around" doesn't involve OS gymnastics because I'm not adjusting my computer to accommodate updates for one add-on in FS. I've seen that happen before and suddenly the person in question had NO FS instead of a working add-on (that was nothing to do with Flysimware or Orbx and happened many moons ago). So c'mon Flysimware, adopt a different system please, because I really want this update and I've yet to hear back about my problem.
I'm posting this because for those still left thinking about the airplane, you might want to pick it up from one of the other stores that sells it (normally I recommend getting it direct from the manufacturer if possible), then signing up for update notifications. Most stores have very high download numbers which is handy with this add-on. You just don't get the updates as quickly (all else being equal) but as it turns out, neither am I and I did buy from the manufacturer. That's not an advantage in this case and in fact, might be a disadvantage.
Just so's you know
