Just a heads up on the new Orbx Library. Some people reporting it's deleting their entire Orbx folder. Couple links to the discussions, Orbx log in required. Here and Here.

Here and Here.Don't like the sound of that at all, at all. I haven't installed it yet and now I'm not going to for a few days. I appears that it's the download version that is at fault for some folks, if you install it via FTX Central it works fine. Maybe.

Yeah, my policy now with Orbx is to wait at least 1 week after an update before installing. Don't know what's happened to them but it's been a while since they've had a release that didn't pose some threat to your installation. Strange.

Sounds to me like they're forgetting about their past. When PNW was released everyone was astonished at the quality of the scenery, for good reason. They had figured out something brand new and that was astonishing to us all. But it was only the depiction of the scenery. The mesh was better than we had ever seen and there were more details and objects at the airports. PFJ came out next and again it was excellent. That was fine and dandy. Then, with their new-found knowledge, they went on to create some of the best scenery for FSX that has been done, my view. But then we got Object Flow, Nature Flow, Insect Flow and people walking in front of your airplane. Now I wonder if they're not getting ahead of themselves a bit. Maybe trying to fit new ways of coding into old scenery might be throwing a spanner into the works, somehow. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that since the release of FTX Central v.2 and the option to install libraries and updates either by the FTX Central or a direct download something has gone wrong. At almost every release there are serious problems reported. And as usual, they are dismissed because they are only a few. Sigh.

Actually I believe the problem lies more with the fact that ORBX is trying to be 'all things to all people'. FSX, FSX Steam, DX10 Preview, P3D vXXXXXX. On top of that I agree that FTX Central v2 is becoming way too complicated trying to comply with the 'all in one place' philosophy. Of course ORBX wants to keep up with the most current sim on the market hence the problems being encountered. FSX and its 'siblings' are getting quite long in the tooth and remember Microsoft released it without it's ever being finished. Of course reading through the ORBX forums clearly points to the fact the most of those who experience problems are very recent user's of ORBX scenery, have not bothered to research the forums and/or even read the manuals that come with the software. The mind set of of 'goody new stuff I'll grab it and just throw it at my HD and hope for the best' just adds to the problems being encountered.

I downloaded the libraries and they installed fine without removing anything. I think . I did have to fix my insertion points again, everything got moved to the top of my scenery library, so my Misty Moorings stuff was overridden. -Scott

Boy, I dunno Scott. It's a little hard to tell if it really went ok without running some analytics on the thing. One way for sure you can tell if things went south during the install is if you sTar* seeing ODdbalL t#pe in T*(s for*m. If it all looks *&, then you know it wENt weLLLL. Les she noow.
