It's been a few years, so I figure it's time to do a fresh re-install of Windows and FSX. I also just got a new video card, so it should be nice to get everything all cleaned up and fresh. I'm going to go to FSX Steam Edition and see how that works. Hopefully everything goes smoothly -Scott

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, Scott!
Which video card did you get?

Mike, I got a GTX 970, the ASUS Strix Overclock. It's replacing an older GTX 660. I got it for other gaming too, it should be good for FSX hopefully -Scott

Scott, your old GTX 660 was a better card than my new GTX 750 Ti! In my case it was replacing an old 9600 GT OC 512MB, so it was a big step up in performance. Needless to say your Strix GTX 970 would blow my poor 750 Ti into the weeds (or is that Orbx grass?).

You're not kidding Fritz! Way too many add-ons. So far I've got my FTX Mesh, Global, Vector, and Landclass installed. So far so good with all that. Now I'll probably start putting my ORBX fat regions and airports in. Then all my planes . So far it seems to be working quite well! Most of my time was spent tweaking my settings and getting it set up right, now I'm just re-installing all my stuff -Scott

Well, my sim is running like a champ now! I don't know if it's FSX Steam, the 970, the fresh install, or all of the above, but I've never had FSX running or looking better. The only thing I have yet to put back in is AI traffic. I'm kind of on the fence with what I want to do with it.

FWIW, I got Ultra Traffic 2, and even though it is a fps eater I really like it. if it gets to be too much in any particular situation, I just temporarily turn it off. "Works for me'. --Carm.

Carm, I have Ultimate Traffic II. It's pretty good. It's kind of old and unsupported but I don't know that there is really much better out there -Scott

Same here. You can also set it (UTII) up to use any airplane as AI. Pretty cool.
