Zulu time (GMT) always seems to cause problems and when you throw in DST (Daylight Savings Time)it clouds the issue even more. I live in the U.S. Central Time Zone which is +6 CST and +5 during DST.
Crossing Long. 180° as olderndirt says changes days, either adds a day (heading West) or subtracts a day (heading East). In 1968 I had an extra long year. Cruised around the world aboard USS America CV66 with a small delay in Viet Nam. When we steamed eastbound across the International Dateline (180°)it became yesterday and NOAA also added an extra leap second that year so my 1968 was 366 days and one second long. Almost an excuse to drink!!!

Funny, Arizona with Mountain Standard Time is Zulu (GMT) minus 7. Don't see how CST could be plus 6... Sue

Sue, although CST v GMT is indeed -6 by using +6 you are determining Zulu time because you normally know what the time is locally but need to know GMT.

<sigh> They sure screwed things up when they made the world round instead of flat. Things were so simple back in those days...

So THAT is what they mean when they tell me I'm "spaced out" <LOL> I always wondered about that!

Ah yes, the Twin Beaver. I always wanted to get checked out in one of those, but you needed a second pilot to fly it, and both of you had to be in sync. Or else...

au contraire! Look how wide the stance is! Besides, in a regular Beaver you almost never have to worry about crosswinds. Hellacious winds across the runway? Simple - land ACROSS the runway <LMAO>!! And please, don't refer to my Beaver as 'hairy'. It's very sensitive about such things .
