Glenn - you're correct and here's my green. Looks like that gawdawful green leopard ground texture survives in all seasons - one of FSX's biggest blemishes.

Nope. It's the other way 'round. Hybrid is supposed to allow you to fly from the "fat" regions into the "not-fat" regions without strange anomalies at the frontiers. At least that's the way I understand it. Fritz, that's almost right but just the reverse. Hybrid mode is so you can fly FROM a non fat region INTO a fat region without having to stop the sim and select the fat region. There will be some very slight "irregularities" that are really not noticeable. All that being said Hybrid mode WILL allow you to fly out of fat regions into the 'FSX world' as well with proper textures being shown. The greenie areas Glenn et al are seeing is indeed an incorrect texture call apparently from the Hybrid mode selection. Of course flying that far east one normally would not really need to use the Hybrid mode as all ORBX 'full fat regions' are all in the west. Eventually this will not be true but for now it applies. In normal use for me I fly Global/Hybrid to cover all modes and areas in North America. I only tried the 'Global only' to check for differences in the green displays which indicates that Hybrid is calling incorrect textures and this will be addressed according to Holger's post. I think that is what I said, in or out will work but the reason for the Hybrid mode is to allow a user to be able to fly into the regions without having to shut down and switch Central to the correct region and still experience 'almost' everything in the 'region'.

I thought the reason for Hybrid mode was to save on fuel, just like a hybrid car.

I need to find that "unlimited fuel" button.... My MilViz Rhino is a thirsty beast. I swear all I'm doing is sight-seeing in various places. At Mach 1,5, but still... Running out of fuel is sooo inglorious.

If I have to get somewhere far and fast, I use the FSX Acceleration Hornet with the afterburners set to stage 1. Due to a quirk in this aircraft (FSX for sure, probably not real world), it is more fuel efficient at stage 1 afterburner than flying without the burners!

Sandy, not sure if your post was 'tongue in cheek' or not but the "Unlimited Fuel"selection is found in ' Settings' then in the ' other settings' box click on Realism. Second box down in the Engines box on right side of screen.

LOL, only a little tongue in cheek. If I actually planned my flight sessions a little I could set that before launching the Rhino. As it is, it's usually a case of "let me show you this new ship I got..." (#Save Scenario) (#Select Aircraft) (#Fly and show off with all the external speakers blaring).
