OK next question has to do with exclusion rectangles. I wanted to eliminate some of the default hangars from Sioux Lookout airport. So, I opened IS3 and drew out the rectangles, which worked fine. Then, I wanted to add in some ramps for new hangars I was putting in there, which were very close to the old hangars I just got rid of. So I used ADE9X and opened the stock airport (CYXL) and placed the ramps in their respective locations. That too worked fine except then my recently hidden hangars reappeared in the process. I then tried using an exclusion rectangle from within ADE9X to re-hide them, but nothing seems to work in terms of getting rid of the default hangars. Any idea why this might be the case and how I can fix that?
Thanks much.

Did you do all of that in one go? What I mean is, did you add the exclusion boxes and then close IS3 and open ADEX and add the ramps and whatnot without closing and restarting FSX itself? That could be the rub. In IS3 the exclusion boxes will only take effect after you restart FSX. For me own self, I always do the boxes first, close FSX down and restart before adding any modifications to whatever scenery I'm working on. I like Instant Scenery but it can be finicky and I'm not at all sure that the new Orbx Global and Vector haven't put a spanner in the works, if ya see what I mean.

I never knew that. I will try that tonight. Thanks, Fritz.

Thanks for this Fritz. I've been able to see the changes just by selecting the Scenery Library and then hitting "OK". That rebuilds the scenery file with the changes. However, just to be sure, I exited completely then came back in, and they are still there despite exclusion boxes from both IS3 and ADE9X. Now, I just modified Big Trout Lake, but there I was able to see the actual buildings and delete them. I didn't use exclusion boxes, and that worked fine (presumably once I delete the new CYTL file, the old airport reappears ). For some strange reasons, the buildings at CYXL didn't show in ADE9X, so I couldn't delete them. Not at all sure why that would be, but I'll go have another look later on. Anyway, it is strange, this.

When you say you "exited completely" do you mean that you closed the sim? That's the important bit because you can put exclusion boxes into a scenery and hit OK in the library and you will see the change. But unless you shut down FSX itself the boxes won't "take" and if you leave the scenery and then come back to it the boxes appear not to have worked. I remember having trouble with this right from the start with IS. You have to draw your boxes, confirm the change and then close the sim and restart it. Otherwise all bets are off. If you did shut the sim down and after restarting it you didn't see the exclusion then I'm afraid I'm at a loss.

Yes, I had exited the sim completely but it was still showing.
I finally found the problem. I had another file for Sioux Lookout but I got dyslexic in naming it so I didn't look in it to see what was there. Basically I had 2 Sioux Lookout airports there so that's why my buildings were showing. That part is fixed, but I have a second seaplane base for Sioux Lookout somewhere as well, so I'll have to go looking for that tomorrow I guess <sigh>. Thanks for the help Fritz.

Ahh, yes, I've done that myself. Glad you got it sorted.
