I'm going through my files preparing for a possible re-install of my system and FSX. It's been awhile, so I forgot what is the best version of the Carenado 185. I have the optional FDE patch downloaded from the Carenado website. I also have an ultimate_185 file that contains new .air and .cfg files for all versions of the 185. I can't remember if the one from Carenado is the newer/better version, or the other files.

Not familiar with the "Ultimate" package but the revised FDE for the Carenado version was done by our own Glenn D. and an Austrian friend.

That "ultimate_185" file has all the revised FDE's for all models. Much better than the original or the patched version from Carenado.

Thanks Fritz. I couldn't remember if the ultimate_185 was a beta to the Carenado patch or if it came late. Looks like ultimate_185 is the keeper! -Scott

Yeah, I can't remember exactly how all those FDE's got done. That whole 185 experience got a bit confusing. I remember it well. Suffice it to say that those "ultimate" files are the best there are for the 185. I remember that Glenn wrote a pilot's guide to that airplane which was quite helpful. Perhaps someone still has the file somewhere; mine is long gone. Al I have left is the print out.

I DO have a PDF copy of that guide! In a roundabout way, it's kind of how I first started getting into bush flying and eventually coming here It helps to be an electronic pack-rat. If you want it, PM me and I'll send you a copy -Scott
