I bought the Pilot's FS Global mesh and when I ran the installer I was presented with two choices; "Complete Installation (all files copied)" or "Scenery Layers only (No files copied). Which is what? I tried "Complete installation" and the damn thing wouldn't install. I got "Installation Rollback, product not installed". Help!

I did complete installation when I did mine and had no problems. Have you checked their forum / help area?

I checked their site and couldn't find a support forum but I did e-mail them about it.

That's weird. Let me know what happens there Fritz as I'm thinking of switching to Pilot's Mesh. That one option is pretty vague though. What do they mean by "Scenery Layers Only"??

I'm probably the wrong person to ask since my install didn't go right If you do the complete installation, you should have a folder FSGX2010 installed where you pointed it to. This folder should be over 23 GB in size, with 8 subfolders under it. Then you need to check your scenery library. This is what didn't get done right on my machine. It should look like this here: If you have all that, you should be good to go! -Scott

Thanks, Scott. But I still have to get it to install. It keeps giving me an "Installation Rollback" message.

That's really strange. Are you installing from DVDs or a digital download? I had the download version and it seemed to install okay except for missing the scenery library entries.

FWIW I picked this off their site - on installation rollbacks. Solution: Please restart setup. Once the installer asks "Do you want to check for online updates?" click YES. This will load a new version of the installer, which will solve this issue. If you install multiple versions of FS Global, you need to do the online update for each installation. (You need to be ONLINE/CONNECTED to the internet for this solution to work!)
Alternative solution (users with no internet connection): Restart setup and DO NOT accept the new installer, once offered. Use the old one.
However, we strongly recommend to use the first solution!

Thanks, gents. I am trying to install from a download and, yes, I did "check for online updates". I did get an answer from Pilot's, but they just said that there could be many reasons for the problem and asked what the error messages said. I sent them that information but so far no response. It is the weekend so I'll probably have to wait a bit. I also asked for support from the Flight Sim Store but that's in Australia so there's a serious time difference there. I tried to run the installer again, for the hell of it, and got the same result. It's probably my fault, but I can't see where. And since I uninstalled all the FSGenesis mesh and the UTX landclass and the SceneryTech stuff that I had, everything outside of the fat Orbx regions look like, well, default. I may be getting too old for this shit, ya know it?

Fritz, I'm assuming you bought the Pilots Ultimate Global Mesh from your quote from their site on installing. Can't help I'm afraid I purchased the FTX Compatible MESH as that is the one ORBX developers use for their scenery. I had no issues when installing that version and unless Pilots can offer help you might ask on the ORBX site because many user's there have that particular Pilots MESH.

Scott, I assume you don't have VECTOR as the four files (..OBJ, ..APT, ..CVX, and ..EXX should be between your FS Global 2010 entries and the Numbered Default Scenery Entries.

Nope, I bought FS Global 2010 from the Flight Sim Store. The version that was advertised as the snazzy mesh to use with Orbx Vector and Global. I have posted and queried both Pilot's and the Flight Sim Store about the problem but as it is the weekend responses have been a bit sparse. I hope to get some pointers next week. I just hope that I don't have to download and extract the whole thing again.

I don't know if your eligible for the old farts discount or not but when you buy from the FSS it actually is a download from Pilots and there is no discount (that's an ORBX benefit).
It's been awhile since I installed the 2010 FTX Compatible MESH but looking at my install in the FSX folder on my HD I see a folder named 'PILOTS Software' with a sub-folder named 'FS Global 2010FTX' and that has a sub-folder as well named 'Complete'. The 'Complete' sub-folder has a sub-folder named 'Uninstall'. I don't imagine those are in your FSX if it hasn't installed.
I'm pleased with the MESH myself, along with the new Global textures and VECTOR shorelines etc. FSX is looking very good.
I hope they can get you fixed up you will enjoy the MESH when it works for you.
