A lot of ink being penned about how WIN10 invades your privacy and its true although that's dependant on how much out of the limelight you prefer to be. In any case after reading several articles about how to "go here and do this" to turn off various modes and widgets M$ has written into the OS I came across the link to a pretty nifty lots o' stuff in one. Can't say it will prevent everything but pretty much anything you may be concerned about. Its called DoNotSpy10- 1.0.0.1-setup.exe made by a German Co. and the link is: pxc-coding.com/portfolio/donotspy10/I have downloaded it and will install the utility. Hopefully my computer wont melt into a puddle  I'll let ya know if I experience any problems.

On the DoNotSpy10 utility I have 32 of the 37 items shut down and so far no problems with my WIN10 install.

Boy. Some OS. You have to pick up an add-on program (yet another, apart from the anti-malware, anti-virus, etc.) that keeps the maker of the basic computer OS from spying on you. I'll pass, thanks .

Actually you can disable the apps from within WIN10 but trying to find out exactly where to do that without a 'howto' is the reason I got the utility. One program, no searching through tons of menus and turning things off one at a time etc. Of course on the initial installation you can turn off a s##tload of apps which I did but not knowing exactly which did/does what and being lazy I opted for an easier (hopefully) method.

True. It's the fact that you even HAVE to do that, that gets me. Privacy is pure illusion anymore, and that's a big scary. Orwell predicted it, but I don't think he knew the form it would come in.

Unfortunately, there's a lot of speculation going around right now. Probably more than facts. But other issues I'm hearing go along these lines. Just taking out the offending apps may be only one small part of this. I've heard that it requires removal of registry entries as well. One IT guy speculated the snooping may even be hard coded into the OS. I've also heard that even if you think you're getting rid of the "spyware" all the offending bits will be back after you do updates even if it appears the offending apps are still removed. And updates are no longer optional?
Again, maybe more fiction than fact however MS seems bent on data collection and I'd be willing to bet that just removing a few apps and add ons isn't going to make much of a dent in that effort.

pxc-coding.com/portfolio/donotspy10/Here is a link that lists what the utility disables etc. WIN10 is M$ and everybody know Billy and company are trying to "rule the world" just ask anybody. Of course ya can't trust em' but like it or not eventually your gonna be a WIN10 or the next version user. According to the list auto-updates and auto-driver updates can be shut off. Of course that is until the elephant in the computer updates their code to make an end run around the utility. Fighting 'City Hall' is a never ending struggle. (ROTFLMAO)

Orwell wasn't that far off, if you think about it. Telescreens are eerily similar to what happens today.
