We have a B200 in the hangar that was ferried over from India a few months back, and is going to Air Nunavut out of Iqaluit. This morning they have been working on the gear and cycling it up and down repeatedly. Man, some powerful motors in that thing! Sure does make a racket, let me tell you!

You want to hear loud. I was in the TWA hangar (back in the 70s) and they were doing retract tests and air condition tests on a 747. LOUD for all of the above. Cool seeing a big old 747 with NO wheels under it!

As a passenger in a 747, if you are sitting just above the main wheels when they the retract/extend the gear the vibration and the noise are quite something. The first time I experienced it, I thought something was definitely going pear-shaped. Since then I've had to reassure people more than once that all is just as it should be.
