Hi
I try here because its a relatively quiet place.
I like clouds a lot but I also like simple a lot. I dont like fiddling a lot of time with all kinds of programs before I fly. I like good realistic weather. I use FSglobal real weather which is soooo easy and fast to set up and I use a freeware texture set called HDE. Its a lot better than default P3D clouds texture.
These days, you see advertisements about Rex soft clouds all over the net. A lot of talking.. Oooh, fantastic etc. But i still dont really get the point and I have even read the manual...yes, I´m a dork and besides english is my 3rd language. I understand that the soft clouds comes with 16 different texture sets. I think I understand that you install the different texture sets and will get different clouds.
So, and here comes my question: How do I know which texture set to install to get correct real weather? Will this addon work with FsGlobal real weather?
The real weather program doesnt say if reality is cumulunimbus or altostratus. It only says the amount of coverage and the altitude.

The REX Soft Cloud program will work with FS Global Weather, no problem. The weather program uses whatever textures are installed. You choose the textures that you prefer for each cloud type, cumulus, cirrus, stratus, etc., then install them. The weather program then decides which type and and at what density to display, depending on the METAR. The level of "reality" depends on the weather engine; if you like FS Global Weather then you will get the same sort of "reality", just with different looking clouds. In other words, install the clouds that you like to look at.

I like FS global weather because its fast and easy to use. I never bought any REX stuff because their manuals are complicated. If you fly a virtual airline, start your plane from cold, use flightplanner, real weather etc, then you use a lot of time fiddling with stuff before you fly. So I like it simple. On the other hand, I like beautifull clouds.
I´ve been told that Rex soft clouds have 16 texture sets with 1 cloud texture in each (well 4, because there are low and high Q fasx and P3D) That cloud texture should be 512 resolution and be around 3 - 400kb. The same texture (Cumulus1) is 5.5mb in my current texture (2048 or 1024 )
Has anyone had a look inside Rex soft clouds to see what it actaually installs?

I'm pretty sure the Soft Clouds package only installs the various cloud images and GUI to select the desired cloud set. Once set to your liking, leave it alone.
