<LOL> Yeah, school is REALLY about learning how to live while so deep in debt you think you'll never see the light of day again. It does get better, but it sure takes a while!
Thanks again for the nice comments. No, never posted on here. I think that one has been published a few times, so maybe in another publication.

Concerning the MESH, I downloaded the Pilots 2010 FTX compatible MESH during the Dec. sale so the servers were probably busier than usual but it took about 3 hours to do.
Performance wise the MESH adds better elevation of course and with Global and VECTOR the results as others have already said are outstanding.

Hi, all. I will post pictures when I get home with the new mesh. What a difference!! Thanks to Glenn (damn it - no more $$$) I added in the Global Base and Global Vector, and added in the Pilot Mesh. With ORBX scenery, I have to say, this sim looks great. This IS FSXI!!! I have had no decrease at all in frames, and if anything, a mild increase. I need a more powerful rig, and that will be the goal for the next 12 months. Pictures to come!
BP;) Don, did you get the DVD's? They seem to recommend that since it's pushing 25gigs.

Ok, thanks. I'm thinking about this while Orbx is on sale. I might get global and vector and wait to get mesh when it goes on sale. So far even with outside of the phat regions I've had no elevation issues with even their freebie airports.

I don't think you'll be disappointed if you go for Global and Vector. I still haven't sprung for the Pilot's mesh, either. Still plugging along with FSGenesis.

Ok, thanks for the info. I think Glenn is also using FSGenesis with no issues and apparently quite a bit cheaper than Pilot's.

Cheaper?? just went to the Genesis site and see there are 34 different countries you would have to buy with prices ranging from $9.95 to $94.50 with the majority in the 15-20 dollar range. For the same coverage area you will spend a wee bit more methinks.

I seem to remember Orbx saying somewhere that their scenery was developed using Pilot's but I'm not sure.

Yeah, I see that now. Man, that's expensive stuff! Pilot's definitely the better option at this point!

I also went to FSGenesis's site and I could hardly believe the prices that they are asking! I bought my FSG stuff long ago, when Justin still owned it, and it was a lot cheaper. Just for a giggle, I went to see if I could still get a download for the things that I had bought at FSG way back when, but I was politely informed that things have changed. Oh, well.

Oh really! So if you bought it before, you're SOL now? Might be making the switch after all .

Yes, PILOT is the base that ORBX works off of. That's the reason I went for it.

Well there is a qualifier on the Pilots FTX MESH for ORBX development. It is used for the Global scenery development but the older ORBX full fat regions utilize its own MESH when it was developed. FWIW if you have MESH with different LOD for the same area in FSX the sim will utilize whichever MESH is the most detailed when it runs.
