Mornin Men ... Has anyone ever used a program called Spartan Multi Clipboard to copy and paste ?? I'm still having problems doing this and this program sounds like it might solve my problem. Cheers, Carm.

Carm, I'd advise against it. I suspect you'll be adding to your problems. With reference to your original post, a number of us have made suggestions and asked questions, but you've not replied to them. It's kind of hard to help you if you don't give us the information we need. So let's try this one more time from the top. Answer the questions below and we can maybe get a better handle on what's going on, because copying and pasting is a basic Windows function. If it's not working, something is seriously wrong with your Windows installation and adding another program on top probably isn't going to help. So, answer the following and we'll go from there:
1) How are you trying to copy a file? For example, do you use CTRL+C or right click and select copy, etc? 2) How do you try to paste? For example, do you use CTRL+V or again right click on empty space and select "Paste" 3) Can you copy a simple text file as in above and paste it? 4) Can you copy an image file (i.e. JPEG) and paste that? 5) If the answer is yes to all the above, how are you trying to post a picture (full procedure) or screenshot in this forum?
Let us know the answers to those questions and we'll go from there.

Carm, I use Spartan clipboard (the freebie) as a URL folder for my screenshots. It appears to provide all kinds of helpful stuff about which I don't care. Regular Windows copy/paste is as Glenn says - right click on a folder, click copy/right click on the destination folder, click paste. Highlight a printed area, right click-copy/Click to obtain vertical cursor line in destination area then right click beyond it-paste. What screenshot problems are you having?

Sorry , About the replies , I did, but not as thoroughly as I should have I guess, anyway, we'll try again. I will reply to you Glenn, by numbers as best I can. [1] I have used both methods with the same results. --negative. [2] answer is as above. [3] NO. [4] NO. [5] As I remember, here is how I have, and am trying to copy and paste a picture. I will select the shot I want and capture it then save to my ' picture saved' folder. When I want to post it, I go to the 'saved' folder click on it and select 'copy'. I then go to wherever I want to post and select a clear area--- ie a 'reply' opened area in Bushpound----s. I will then select that area and when the cursor is present --right click on that empty space and select 'Paste'. Now, when I select the 'empty space ' and right click, there is no 'paste' option, it usually is slightly highlighted --- not anymore. The same problem above, is in the CTR+V method. The only place I can 'paste' to is my desktop. I can copy and save a shot from my ' saved shots' folder to the desk top. but cannot copy and paste anywhere from there. That includes E mail. Well there yu go. I hope that is a little clearer than mud. I appreciate the Help, this snag sure is time consuming and annoying. PS. I haven't downloaded that Spartan thingme yet Dave---still sitting on it. BTW. I wouldn't be surprised Glenn if you were right about Windows. Thanks men, Carm.

OK, let's try something here first:
1) Open Notepad (click on your Start button and type Notepad in your search window if it's not on your DT now). 2) Make a text file using Notepad in your "My Documents" folder. Just type "Test" in the notepad file, and save it in My Documents as "Test.txt". 3) Close the file. 4) Now, right click on the file (after it's closed - highlight it first by left clicking on it) and select "Copy". 5) In an empty space in your "My Documents" folder, right click and select "Paste". You should end up with a file named "Test.txt_Copy" (or something like that) OR it will ask you if you want to replace the file that already exists. Select YES if it does ask you if you want to replace the file. 6) Open that file and make sure it says "Test" inside of it.
Do all that in that order. If you can't get to the end (#6), tell me how far you get and why you had to stop (i.e. the "paste" button is greyed out. Make SURE you select (left click) on the "Test.txt" file icon before you right click on it. You have to have your mouse over top of that icon when you right click on it in order to copy it.
I think I know what's wrong but you need to do the above first. Do this ASAP, and we can take the next step from there.

Sorry Glenn I cannot do what you asked for at least an hour or so. I will as soon as I can. sorry for the delay Glenn it was unavoidable. In answer to step # 6 in your sequence the answer is YES 'Test' is inside that folder. Carm. PS. I asked a neighbour lad who knows his way around computers to go through your sequence to check what I found , and he came up with the same result---"test" is there.

OK, so your copy and paste is working.
Now, am I correct in saying then that the only problem you are having is that you can't paste an image into the forum? If that is the case, please tell me the steps you take to place a screenshot inside BP. If it is NOT the case, please tell me exactly where all you are not able to paste (leave emails out of this for now).
Not to worry - I think I have this nailed, but I'd rather go slow and detailed than make a leap of faith here.

This has got to be one of the strangest things I've heard of for a long time. Yep I agree Fritz.
Glenn!!. Look at the 6th post above under the heading ' 21 hours ago". That post as well as anything says it all. I don't know of anything I could add. Couldn't reply sooner ---- had to look after the livestock, Carm.

Well, it doesn't answer my question though. You are able to paste elsewhere because you just pasted into your My Documents folder. My question is how are you trying to post onto the forum? Are you simply copying the picture to your clipboard (using the methods I had you do above) then simply paste it into the forum post, or are you linking it somehow? Need to know that because I think you might be missing a step here. Say hi to the "livestock" for me .

Well here goes.
I go to where I store my shots and choose one, place the mouse over it and Rt Click, a display appears with the options, one of which is "Copy', this I choose with the mouse and RT click that ' copy' option. I then open Bushp--rs ---for example and the forum location where I want to put the shot. On the clear area I Lft click the mouse--A small vertical pulsating line then appears--- which can be positioned in the clear area where I want the shot. then I RT click and another display appears with options, one of which is ' paste' ----normally at this time that 'paste option is slightly highlighted, in my case it is not. If it were, I would Rt click on it and the shot would be pasted there. That is how I used to put my 'so so' shots in this and other forums. I can, using this method paste on my desk top with no problem. Cheers, Hope this helps. Carm. PS. Fritz----No snagit used.

OK, I think we have narrowed it down to the actual problem. I think your copy and paste function is working fine. The problem is, you can't simply paste a picture into a forum post using the methods you describe here (right click, CTRL+V, etc.). No forum, that I know of, will allow you to do that. The formatting isn't correct. You have to upload your photo either to the site (if the site supports that, and some do), or it has to be hosted somewhere on the web and then linked to via the forum link buttons. See this thread here. Look most of the way down the thread where I've posted some screenshots of the buttons you need to use to post a picture with. As I say though, the picture has to be uploaded to a site first. Now where and how your photos were being uploaded and stored previously I can't say. Fritz's question about Snagit is a good one in that it has a feature that will automatically upload a picture to a storage site online, but that would have had to have been set up by someone at some time. I'm wondering if in your previous installation (before the HD crash) if they (the store you bought the machine from) had such a tool that would do that, and they set it up for you. I can't say, but the bottom line is, simply doing a right click on the forum isn't going to work for you (or anybody). Copying text and pasting in the forum will, but that's not the same thing as an image. So that's your problem. Exactly how to fix that is not something I can do at this point because I use an FTP program to upload my images and I store them on my own server online. You (and likely most here) won't have that option, so maybe others can chime in here with what they do and use and that will solve the problem for you. The bottom line though is that there is nothing wrong with your computer in terms of the copy and paste function, so you're ok that way. It's probably just having to devise a new solution to how to show your screenshots, and lots of people here can give you suggestions on that one. Hope that makes sense. If you have questions, fire away.
