Meet Arctic Circle Air Cargo. It's (at the moment) a spin-off from North Atlantic, is all cargo, and serves N. Canada, Alaska, Scandinavia and the UK/Ireland area, although it's not limited to just those locations. We have a rather eclectic fleet designed to get into remote places where runways may not be the longest or the best, but also some medium sized haulers, the 737-700F being the largest. This is one of a very few 737-700's that have been converted to a freight hauler, but I'm sure more will pop up over time. Tonight's trip was from Whitehorse to Inuvik (CYXY-CYEV), where runways were pretty good at both ends. We had a full load going up and used a whole lot of runway coming out of Whitehorse, and then took our time climbing to FL360 for the trip up. At the other end, it was an ILS approach to 06 at Inuvik. We had to do a go-around before landing however, due to an avionics issue of some kind where the A/P kicked off and the FMC seemed to lose its way. With 2.5 nm to go, we were now too high, so I simply entered a holding pattern and came back around on about a 5 nm final doing it the old-fashioned way - hand flying it down. Weather was decent although we were in and out of the clouds down to about 1700 feet. For the most part a good trip. I'll likely be spending some time in Inuvik doing some local runs before Christmas (as "local" as anything gets up that way!).

On the roll. We'd use a lot of this runway up before getting airborne!
Enroute entering the land of the midnight sun. This is about midday.
Nice scenery up here, although it was pretty hazy underneath for most of the trip
Final for Inuvik after our failed first attempt

The fellow who did Inuvik really did a nice job. Maybe a few too many trees for the area, but there are trees there IRL as the treeline follows up the Mackenzie almost to Tuktoyaktuk. It sure is nice to have these enhanced strips, especially in the far north. I'll post a few more screenies over the next couple of days.
