BTW - I did see what you wrote, Glenn, on what mesh they used to build the scenery with. I don't always go by what they use/say, because they are sometimes tied to it for the money, where others work just as well and may be free or less expensive.

I use FSGenesis, which I think gives the same resolution. You just have to watch what version you pick (check the LOD ratings for each). I think it's on sale right now so you can probably pick it up for less than the Pilot's version, but you do have to compare the LOD's for each to be sure. You can find it here.

I just wrote them. They have the United States Terrain Mesh FSX on sale. It has a picture of the US, Hawai'i, and Alaska in green. When you open it up, it says "the lower 48". I need to know if it is ONLY the lower 48 or if it does indeed come with the other 2. I'm waiting for a response from them, and I'll order it.

OK, but make SURE you check the LOD value. If it doesn't match what Pilot's has, you might have problems even with the mesh installed (maybe especially with!)

<LOL> He seems to have a couple of "typos" on his page. The FSNordic package is "Regular 37.95" but is now on "sale" for $49.95 <LMAO>. With sales like that, who needs inflation . Is this the one you are looking at?

Don - I used FSGenesis from FS9 then FSX. Have all the disks - if you want them, PM me your mailing address. Switched to FSGlobal about a year ago and find it the best.

Maybe I should just go wit FSGlobal then. That covers the whole world and it will be done and over with. The only problem is it is HUGE!!!Jury still out on all the choices. Thanks for the input.

FSGlobal is probably the better route to go at this point. I don't know what their prices are like, but let's say you wanted to fly from Mankomen to Mayo for instance. You'd be fine until you hit the border then it all goes to pieces. If I were starting out, that's the route I would go.

I am downloading Global mesh now. Do you think it would hurt to run this out of another drive other than where I have FSX (C:)? It is going to almost bury my HD if I cannot.

At best, it might really slow things down for you. If you are going to totally eat your HD though, you may not have much to lose by trying it.

Well - here is what has happened so far - I tried to download, but the size of what I downloaded does not match what they say it should be. As usual, I ordered the DVD backup. I will just wait for them to send it - should take 10-28 days. That will give me time to clean up my HD some, so I can install it and not damned near max it out. You are 100% correct, my friend. This is a whole new, different sim. That Gulkana/Mankomen area is like a whole new world! I am off to plant a few cabins around. Global and vector, to me, just made FSXI. I think the Global mesh will seal the deal.
