Well ....... I did it. I bought the Global base and Vector last night. Not sure of wtf I am seeing though. LOL! It took me 3 tries to install Vector. Very pissed off this morning. Glenn, can you take a screenshot of Mankomen Lake for me from the lakeside approach? Also, one around Gulkana with the airport. I think I am OK, but I want to compare. I do NOT have mesh installed, so it may vary a little. Thanks!

One question is what do you have FTX Central set to? FWIW if you set it to Global w\Hybrid checked then you will be able to fly into and out of ORBX Regions with impunity and not have to reset anything. Or fly from one region, thru no region into another region and there is no need to do anything FTX Central wise. I almost always fly Global/Hybrid and everything looks great that way.

I had it set to that, but the airports went back to default. I then changed it back to the North America, and the airports came back and the scenery looked much better (TONS of trees. I also unchecked all my UTX. With it checked, I lost about half of my water. (Not mine, the games!)

Yeah, sure. I'll put it up tonight. I gather you need Gulkana from north of where SAK ends, looking south towards the airport, correct?
I forget now, is Mankomen Lake in the FS database (it's not in SAK, correct)? Don't forget, anyplace where you have an Orbx fat region will override Global and Vector.
Now, why do you think you might have a problem? While it's not listed as "mandatory", this comes from an older Vector version, but I think is important:
First you will need a 3D wireframe, the mesh. FS Global 2010 or Ultimate series are recommended, as we do all the testing and developing on these. Other meshes may/will work as well, but it depends on how they were derived. Even the same source data can result in a different mesh. Though it is no technical requirement, Vector will look odd in some areas when you use the sims (FSX/P3D) default mesh. We strongly recommend to use FS Global 2010 or Ultimate.
Without mesh, you will see some strange things. In terms of layering, Orbx should take care of that itself so you don't have to worry about that. Anyway, if you have a minute to show me what you are seeing, I can try to get good comparison shots for you. Just taking a pic of "around the Gulkana area" is pretty vague and may not cover what you need.
Back tonight.

PS (since you posted while I was writing) - yeah, you need to turn off all your UTX stuff. It will conflict now since V1.2.

OK, I've take a few shots, but again I'm not sure what you are looking for, so these may or may not work for you. Mankomen does have a problem in that a third of the runway extends into a raised part of the lake. Now I have mesh installed so you may or may not see that. Otherwise everything looked fine to me. Here are the shots:
Mankomen. The near end of the runway is extending into the water, which is climbing the airport property.
More distant shot of Mankomen.
Gulkana looking north
Gulkana looking south from the northern boundary from SAK and Vector/Global only
Gulkana looking from the north. Sorry, guess I didn't wait for all the textures to load after slewing there so they are blurry. That's not how it looks normally.
Hope that helps.

I'm pretty sure that Mankomen Lake is north of the boundary of SAK and as such doesn't have improvments at all. I can confirm that in FSX the R/W does extend into the lake. Wether this is a VECTOR issue or not I can't tell but is so report it on the ORBX VECTOR Support forum and Pilot's will put it into their todo list for an update.

Oh yeah, it's well out of the area. This should be reported as an issue for an update though. They are really good at getting these things fixed once they know about them.

Sorry, Glenn - I fell asleep! LOL! This is VERY close to yours. Mine Yours Mankomen Lake - mine looks a little different due to me having default mesh, but again is similar. Yes, Spud, it is way out of SAK, but is a place I use from Gulkana for camps. It has NEVER been correct in any version of FS with any mesh - default or add-on. BP;)

About 40 north of Chistochina - not far at 2X sim speed.

Since you now have vector and global, report this to Orbx and they will likely fix it. Beautiful area so it is worth a try.
