This one is the Hawker Siddeley 125 manufactured by five different companies over the years. Obviously a worthwhile design by DeHavilland ending as a Beechcraft product, not for inefficiency but an FAA decree about noisy engines. Lined up and waiting (strange, I'm an old 'taxi into position and hold' guy) at London's City airport.

Truth be known, 'Taxi into position and hold' - abbreviated by most to 'position and hold' then the Phaseology Phreaks (management at the DC level) got on us and it was 'and specify the runway'. When you're at the hold line for a given runway, where the hell else would you go?

Truth be known, 'Taxi into position and hold' - abbreviated by most to 'position and hold' then the Phaseology Phreaks (management at the DC level) got on us and it was 'and specify the runway'. When you're at the hold line for a given runway, where the hell else would you go? Agree. My radio usage was always short and sweet. Being we were a training field, both flying students and FAA training tower, the easier, the better. My initial call would be Aztec XXXXX, North Ramp, taxi, takeoff (direction) westbound. They would respond by giving me the runway. Aztec XXXXX taxi, Rwy 9L, Hold short of the runway. After run-up, Aztec XXXXX is ready on the left for a (direction) departure. Either get a position and hold or a cleared for takeoff, and the runway. Sometimes they would say the winds again at the end. I'd answer Aztec XXXXX is rolling. Done. Next would I would ask for a freq change if leaving the airport traffic pattern. No extra BS.Less than two dozen words would get me in the air and out of the area.
