X plane has never had the best scenery... MSFS and the photogrammetry is impressive.
( What is photogrammetry? Photogrammetry is the art and science of extracting 3D information from photographs. The process involves taking overlapping photographs of an object, structure, or space, and converting them into 2D or 3D digital models.)

Not really. I have a vague memory that something like that was done during WWII or shortly after but I could easily be mistaken.

Bingo! Photo Recon! Now all grown up as scenery in MSFS. Which is why you can find your house in MSFS.

The View Master, wow, I had one too. They stopped making them in 2019, according to that great source, Wikipedia.
