Over the years (just prior to FS9), my flight simming has gone through varying levels of interest. I have used MS, P3D, XP and now MSFS and each of these has boosted my interest as they continuously improve the experience. At one point I took a long break from flightsim because trying to keep up with hardware upgrades to run the newer versions of the simulators depleted my level of interest. I finally returned to flight simulator when MSFS 2020 released but by then I found my interest had become more focused. Instead of commercial aviation, I was now enjoying general aviation and specifically vfr flying. Going back to low and slow is great fun and the scenery in MSFS is the big part of that. I also find that the time spent enjoying flying low and slow does not require very many hours. All my flights now are about an hour or less but the immersion factor is high. Wherever you wish to go, your flying can be up close and personal. I soon noticed that of the various flight sim forums I visited or revisited quite a few of the old regular names have now gone quiet. Some of these folks have passed but many others have retired from flight simming. As much as I understand that life, as it is, gets in the way, it is still disappointing not to hear from them and keep up with their insights. Slowly, some of the old forums that were a hub of interest have disappeared or are a shadow of what they once were. The social interest in flight simulator today centers around dischords which are very popular in most games. I still go back to post in some of the old forums that are still online but even though they get a few visitors I am usually the only one who has posted for some time. Well, I suppose flying is all about the journey and all the places it takes you. Just "ramblin".
