Most comments regarding this new offering by MSFS has been focused on its' disappointing performance. Thanks to the modding community, there is already a fix to address this issue. I am glad to say that the MSFS DC3 is now flyable.

There's a very competitive freeware C47 ( DC3 with extra antennae and astrodome) for, initially, the old FSX then ported to XP by Aeroworx, a South African outfit. The thing I like about this one, it's interior is vintage ww2 - the panel is a work of art.

I like the new 3, but unlike others, I HATE the sounds. Jump into Manfred Jahn's C-47 in FSX and listen to those sounds. Those ARE what a 3 sounds like. This one here at times, sounds like a weed whacker. I wonder how many people who are giving the sounds such high praises actually have been IN a DC-3! (or did they see one fly by at an airshow and become "experts"!)

The one I mentioned above is the Manfred version and no payware, thus far, has come close.

I enjoyed the Manfred Jahn version and agree that the sound in the MSFS version is not quite as good especially at cruise, startup and shutdown. I think the MSFS sound is a little better on engine runup and takeoff though. Yep, I think the MJ version is still the gold standard.
