Why does Scotland have palm trees? Image result for reason for palm trees at oban scotland The vast majority of Scotland's palm trees are on the nation's southwest coast, both on and off the mainland. These leafy boys are able to grow because of the Gulf Stream, a strong ocean current shuttling water from the tip of Florida all the way to Europe. Never been to Oban myself but apparently they have a park with all the tropical stuff you'd see in the Caribbean - also a very fine single malt distillery.

Yes, of course, the good old Gulf Stream. Still and all, Scotland?
