All the years I have been flight simming, I always enjoyed float planes whether they were floats, amphibs or seaplanes. The possible places to explore with them is enormous. If you've ever watched one land from the vantage point of being on the water, it is quite a nice sight. When I was a kid, my family had a lakeside cottage and one of the neighbors would fly back and forth between homebase and their cottage in their Cessna. It was always a treat to see them land on the lake. When they left there were always a few boats that would lineup to race the plane down the lake but it didn't take the Cessna long to leave them in her wake. Since moving from P3D to MSFS I have been disappointed in some of the default planes. However, mod authors have been providing some sorely needed fixes which is common in simulators. One issue that seems to be eluding the attention of MSFS devs is the water rudders. As long as you only takeoff and land in straight lines all is well but it is nearly impossible to maneuver into a dock or near the shoreline. In FS9, FSX and P3D the water rudders were not an issue but it is in MSFS. Right now, I have my fingers crossed that a clever mod author comes up with a hot fix because MSFS has some nice small GA amphibs.

On takeoff you want them up to prevent damage but taxiing you want them in the water 'cause the big rudder ain't much without air flow.
