Yes, strange looking skis for sure. The people are way too small as well. Floyd Bennett lives on .....

In '28 those were undoubtedly low bid aftermarket ski's, probably built by the local carpenter. I've made temporaries by steaming plywood but with an upturn on front to prevent digging in. Up front are supposed to be bungees or strong springs with a safety cables - those shown are steel pipes, not too forgiving to a hard hit.
