Couldn't help but chuckle reading the news about the near miss over the Pacific. Glaring headline: "Jet dropped 600 feet in 1 minute" breaking out my handy dandy main frame computing device I have to sympathize with those poor passengers who experienced a descent rate of 10'/sec. :sleeping: If they fell out of their seat the rate would be 32'/sec squared. Don't ya just love these aviation experts who bring us the news every day!

This appears to come from the same folks who continue to insist It's going to be very cold tonight at -5° C. Um, excuse me, but that's still 23° F, barely below freezing. Talk to me again when we start to hit -5 F (on the down side of -20° C), about 37° below freezing. Big difference.
