Goodness me! That does look very good! I also have flown around there with UTX and Scenery Tech and Vector is clearly much better. As Bob pointed out, the ice is spot on. As you post shots of the various regions, it seems that Vector is very good in certain regions and in others, kinda so so. I suppose it's the data available to them. It's still something I can't afford for now.

I think that's true of FSX and any scenery add-on's Fritz. I just looked up around the area north of Sault Ste. Marie Ontario and there are a whole whack of lakes that are up on "pedestals". It's pretty bad. Now some of that might be the mesh I'm using, some maybe LC, not sure. It does seem like the Sept-Iles area really did well, as now does NW Ontario, but as you say, some areas not so much. Nevertheless, the good areas seem to far outweigh the bad.

I think that Vector uses the Pilot's mesh, although they say that any mesh will do. I'm still using the FSGenesis mesh from some time back. I've been thinking about buying the Pilot's FS Global Ultimate NA mesh, more for the hell of it than anything else. It would set me up for Vector and Global, if I ever get ahead of things again.

Orbx does use Pilot's, but I'm using FS Genesis as you are. It seems to work just fine for the most part. If they are using the same resolution, I'm not sure there would be any advantage to buying more mesh. I'd be inclined to put the money towards Global and Vector if it were me.

ANY mesh will work - they'd like you to buy the 'Pilots' mesh and, using Alaska as a gauge, I've gotta say their 'Ultimate' stuff is the best.

I **think** it is, but I'm not certain. Of course, there were several versions of FSG for this part of the world, but if you have the highest res, then I think they are the same.

Well, I looked. FSG is 19m. Pilot's is: - SRTM to NED/CDED (some mix before) - Large Areas are rendered in LOD12 (Grand Canyon, all significant mountain ranges of the US etc) - Local Areas LOD14 (had to be limited due to data size) - Mexico done in LOD10 (looks like LOD11 though!) - Canada in LOD 11, which makes a dramatic difference to default (esp north 60°) Hmmmnnn ...
