Despite fighting with my early winter head cold, I did a thing today. A thing that put a smile on my face. No, not that kind of thing (dangit), get your mind out of the gutter. I did a complete, clean, reinstall of my P3Dv4.1. And all the scenery stuff I have, including Tongas Fjords and Misty Moorings. All my tools are in, and everything is up to snuff for making P3D look and behave as it should. Well, mostly. Been having one heck of an issue with P3D forgetting all my control settings. I finally just made a profile that I have to load every time I start the sim. Else none of my controls work from one start to the next.Very annoying. I also haven't installed any of my purchased aircraft yet. I wanted to ensure all the "earthly" stuff was fully in and functional. Without third party aircraft, my P3D install currently weighs in at 260gb, not counting all the stuff in various system folders (Program Data, App Data, My Documents, etc.) Was neat to buzz around Misty's Place, and start a flight at Sitka without an ocean full of trees.

I keep toying with the idea of moving to P3D but I just don't know if I want to go to all the trouble. And trouble there will be, I know it.

I am running P3D v3 and at the moment my plan is to stay with it for another year. The transition from FSX went well and I am please with the results. Hopefully, in the next twelve months all the software gremlins will be sorted out and v4 will be my next purchase.

LOL, flyguy the next bump may well be P3D v5 by then. The step to 64 bit with v4 is what sold me... And it's been worth it, for the most part. Aggravating to wait on all those third-party add-ons to be made compatible, then have to pay a tax (in time, money or both) for a compatible product. But that first successful flight with all the bells and whistles clanging and tooting ... Yeah, man. It's nice. It's still MS Flight Simulator at it's heart, so even a 64bit bypass is only buying time. But I have to admit I like it.

I just got done doing all this myself, and I'm also pretty pleased with my results. When I first tried v4, I still had FSX and P3D v3 going, and a lot of add-ons weren't natively available yet. I wasn't that pleased with my v4 performance, but a fresh re-install changed that. It's running pretty smooth and stable, and I'm back to enjoying my flying again!
