My sim has lately developed a new trick. !!!!!
IF I shut down and restart the FS [FSX] using a different A/C from the one I last flew, nearly every time I have to realibrate the A/C especially the ailerons. Which will have very little right deflection. When this fault happens I have to re calibrate the controls to get the correct deflections. This snag is intermittent as well, to make it more of a head scratcher for me. Anyone got any ideas what's going on . For example. Yesterday I was Ottering around Alberta like a good thing. This AM I thought I would go up to Whitehorse in a default 737 800 to visit a ex AF buddy. Well--there we go, almost no right aileron deflection caught on the preflight. At that point I shut down and went for another Tims coffee. Maybe I'll do the calibration tomorrow. Has anyone got any thoughts on what's up with my FSX ?? Cheers, Carm.

IF Fritz is recommending the "Repair" function of FSX remember you have to remove Acceleration prior to doing that and when finished re-install Accel. plus if you have FTX Global that will have to be re-installed also as repair returns the FSX default scenery textures wiping out the better textures Global provides.

'Repair' is on the Acceleration disk. When it boots, you'll have two choices - one of which is 'repair'. It collects files to check and whirs and groans a bit. Never seemed to do a whole lot of good but, then again, no harm.

Well, things are lookin up. After all else failed, I 'restored' the system to a week ago, and would you believe the problem seems to have vanished. I tried several different A/C and so far all seems as it should be. Maybe that was the answer, but, it didn't tell me what was wrong though. We'll see what happens tomorrow. Cheers, Carm.

Strictly need to know, Carm - be happy. Mornin men !!! Its like SGT Schultz in Hogens Heroes used to say----' don't tell me', 'I don't want to know' !!!. Me thinks I'll go over to France today and check out the Cote de Azure to lineup a winter escape from the inevitable snows of Ontario. Cheers, Carm.

Actually "repair" function is on the FSX DVDWhen FSX first arrived (2 disks) the repair function was on disk 1 then, when Acceleration was added, a repair function was added to that disk. Sounds like, in typical Microsoft fashion, it was up to you to figure out which repair function applied to your problem.

I've only used the "repair" function from the Acceleration disc. It has worked for me a few times and other times it seems to do nothing. I usually try it as a last resort.

My mistake! Never trust an 'Old Fart's' memory. I've had so much trouble with the sim lately that I have always had to run the 'repair' function for FSX and forgot that Acceleration had the repair function available too. However IF you have to 'repair' FSX un-installing Acceleration first still is a requirement for FSX's repair to work correctly.
