I think when I get back from surgery, I am going to buy Prepar3D and give it a shot and see what it's all about. It looks pretty good, and from what I am reading, seems to be pretty stable now. Any input from users would be appreciated.

I have held off so far due to the continual requirement to keep buying essentially the same software each time they release some update or minor additon. Maybe next year???!

See, that's the info I needed to know. So each update has to be purchased. Not liking that.

It's not each update, only some of the major ones and you can choose to skip updates if you want. Though personally I don't know if it's worth it to start with P3D now, if your FSX is functional it might be better to wait and see what P3D 64-bit is about.

I guess paying for updates isn't bad. That's really what each MS sim has been since the start! For a while, MS was releasing one every year or two - 1995, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006. Paid for each one in full each time.

I have thought more about P3D lately myself. I understand that the 64 bit version will be coming at some point, but I'm not sure when. I look at getting the latest P3D as possibly getting the last, most stable 32 bit release that will allow me to use most of my current add-ons. I don't know what will get converted to 64 bit once it's available, and what kind of cost will be involved. Some companies might have an upgrade price, and some might charge full price to re-buy new add-ons. So maybe the current P3D isn't such a bad idea . -Scott

You have a good point. Almost everything I own will work with P3D 32. If I still feel like this in 5-6 weeks, I'll look at it.

FWIW Lockheed Martin will be participants at the 'FlightSimCon' this year. This perhaps means they have something to share - like a 64 bit version or, at least, a version 4. Not until June though so keep a stiff upper lip.

I'm not positive but I think I've read via ORBX that you will have to buy all their stuff again for P3D 64bit.

I wonder if the 32 would still work in a 64 world, OR is it another way to sell more of the same, when the bang for the buck might not be worth it. I think I'll go for the 32. ALL of my stuff would / should work in it. I am still going to wait though.

Hi all,
There's been a bunch of speculation about our pricing policy for the next version of P3D, likely based on my previous posts back in December.
Let me clarify: we will NOT be charging anything for our products for the next version of P3D. They will be 100% free to use on the new platform. Better still, through the magic of FTXCv3 you won't even need to re-download them.
Please do NOT ask me or any member of the Orbx team about any tech details about any new P3D releases from LM, or why we can make this zero-cost promise. We are under NDA and we will not be pressed into talking about it for obvious reasons. If and when LM give us permission to discuss things publicly then we'll do so.
I just wanted to reassure those with a sizeable investment in Orbx products for P3D that you won't be asked a penny more to upgrade.

Sweet!! Thanks, Sue! Do most FSX aircraft also work in P3D?
