With my Air Hauler 2 company, I hope to start getting more PIREPS out.
My flight today is a large load of cargo from our base in Nantucket (KACK) to our base in Burlington, Vermont (KBTV). I'm flying our B1900D, which happens to be our largest aircraft currently. At the moment, it is fully configured for cargo operations. This time of year, we have been extremely busy lately delivering packages and cargo all over the northeast.
Early morning departure from Nantucket, KACK. Low visibility this morning.
Turning back over KACK for a departure north to Burlington. The airport lights are barely visible.
En-route cruise above the clouds.
Getting close to Burlington, I spot some towering storm clouds ahead. I should pass east of it.
A whole row of towering clouds to my west.
Air traffic control begins to bring me down. I'll be descending into some pretty heavy cloud layers. I've been cleared to fly the RNAV Runway 15 approach.
Descending past my Final Approach Fix, I'm flying in and out of clouds on my way to my MDA. The runway is appearing and disappearing in front of me.
At about 1300 feet above the airport elevation, I finally get a clear approach picture.
After landing and taxiing in, I shut everything down. The ground crew scrambles to unload all the cargo I've brought in. I check in at our base and see what cargo needs delivered from here.
I continue to be very impressed by the weather from Active Sky 2016. The final approach flying through wispy clouds, the runway appearing and disappearing was very impressive. The screenshots don't really capture the feel of it. I use AS2016 with ASCA to dynamically generate clouds, and it seems to do a great job.
Thanks for checking it out guys, and hopefully I'll have some more often!
