NAV 1

  We loaded up the Dak this AM with locals at CYHK for a trip to Baker Lake CYBK. I'll be danged if we could get NAV1 to come alive on the plane. Nav 2 works just fine so we used it to keep us on track.

Nav 1 was dead the whole trip. We could tune it, but other than that, just no response. Anyone else have a prob with Nav 1 ??  

   We had to go as the local tribal elder had an appointment with the denturist at Baker Lake.  His family and friends came along for the outing. We were close to maxed out.

That nav 1 thing is a mystery as after landing and refueling we carried on and would you believe there was no problem with Nav1.---beats me !!

               We found out why Nav 1 would not tune. In the 'Control Panel' [Shift+4] under the 'Nav - Gps option ---Gps was activated thus nav1 was deactivated.  With Nav selected Nav1 works just dandy. 

                      We're on out way to Rankin Inlet to pick up another load of locals, this time they are on their way to Winnipeg for their semi annual two week acetylsalicylic acid detoxification retreat.    We'll stay over at Rankin tonight, head for the 'Peg' In the morning when we find our load.

Ok Carm, let me ask you this - does your OBS on NAV1 indicator rotate the course so that the needle centers?  Mine shows it's alive with a TO indication but the little hand over the OBS knob does nothing.

Hi Dave.. You've got me. I don't see a 'little hand' over the OBS knob on the panel I'm looking at as we speak.

I'm sitting on Rwy 33R at CYYZ In the latest  Dak and have Mansfield VOR, YMS- 114,50 tuned in on Nav 1. I've rotated the course knob on the N1 OBS to centre the needle-- 329'. To/From arrow shows TO, but I don't see a 'Hand.' ---sorry Dave,.  Send a quick shot>>  maybe.

The little hand is the clickable item indication when you mouse over something on the panel.  It appeared that nothing was happening when I attempted to rotate the OBS to center the needle.  EDIT - it's hell getting old and infirm.  Both OBS's rotate OK, - just need my monitor screen ground to my prescription .
