Ok since the talk earlier about the coming updated Lear 10 and I kind of itching to play with some smallish biz jets.
Obviously that Lear coming from Xtreme is a classic old school AC and I am going to probably pick that up but if I also wanted to add one more to go with it but one that is more modern which one would you all recommend for realism?
I have looked at the Eaglesoft Citation 10 and Carenado S550 Citation so far.
Thought I better get some input first.
Thanks gents!

I have both and the Eaglesoft Citation 10 was really good. The FMC had some bugs in it that would occasionally cause a CTD so you had to be really careful about how you programmed it. I never did figure out what was doing it. Graphics wise it wasn't that great, but most of the systems they modeled and the FDE I remember as being quite good. It's pretty dated now though.
The 550 (and I'll try to keep this at least somewhat objective) is very good on the graphics. The FDE is so-so though AFAIC. It's not a performer for sure but it will get you into 3500 ft strips. It has the Proline 21 system in it if I recall, and Carenado has taken a whoooole lot of grief over that system because of how little on it actually works. They've not done anything to fix that one, or subsequent aircraft since with that system so the complaints are the same for the latest jets as they are for that one in terms of avionics. Basically, you're paying for a full aircraft (same amount, I think, as the XP is going for) but getting an aircraft with barely functioning avionics. It's up to you if you want to do that.
The FSX world is sorely lacking in biz jets unfortunately, although for the most part I'm not a big fan of anything that won't carry cargo or a stretcher anyway. If past history means anything, wait for the XP. Of course, they might screw theirs up as well, but they sure did a superb job on the first one. As one friend of mine said (and I totally agree), if all they did was upgrade the graphics in the VC, and they simply carried everything else forward from the old model, it would be very well worth the money. Sounds like they are carrying a number of things forward, and updating/upgrading many other things.

Glenn, thanks for taking the time to give me so much info. I will for sure get the XP one when it comes out and from what I can tell that is an old school cockpit, which is what I want so I am looking forward to that. I was just trying to find a good one to go with it if I wanted to have the XP and maybe a little more modern glass cockpit biz jet. I appreciate the input. I have taken the Carenado off my list because of what you said but also what I have read other places. So mainly looking at the Flight1 Mustang and still the Eaglesoft Citation. Though I really didnt want to spend $50 on one.

Ah yes, the Mustang! Forgot about that one. It's a bit dated but yes, it works quite well. A bit heavy on the frames but overall it's a good machine to have.

Thanks Glenn I decided on the Eaglesoft Citation X so now have a little more modern biz jet to go with the Xtreme Lear when it comes out. That should do me on small jets for quite a while. Now just need to learn it Kinda looking forward to it as I have never really delved into the jet world, at least not in FSX and any other jets I have flown were in combat sims and everyone was shooting at me

Yep, you should have fun with that. It goes like stink, I'll say that for it. Tough airplane to learn jets on though. Expect to be spending a fair bit of time initially "somewhat" behind the airplane . They take a while before you can keep up with the thing .

Hah yes im sure so. I considered getting the Carenado Phenom 300 to start with as I read it was a decent more simplified jet to learn on. i might wish I had once I jump into it Or maybe the Mustang though not sure if its all that much simpler.

... They take a while before you can keep up with the thing . I'll say. I got that Lear 35 from Flysimware and I still can't get it right!

The Mustang has a FADEC system that actually works, so it's pretty easy to get running. Carenado has a FADEC system that doesn't work so it's a lot harder to get it running because you have to do things that don't make sense for starting a jet engine with FADEC. The Lear (either the 35 or the 25) are manual starts, but they are basically pretty easy. Hit the starter and wait until the engine is spooled up as far as it will go, then hit the fuel switch to ON, and wait. That's it. Don't hit the fuel switch too soon or you'll need the fire department

I have the Citation X Todd and up until this Am was happy with it. Now for some reason it refuses to display the Eicas panels, they are blank[black]. All else in the A/C seems to work. Some time in the past I had this prob before with this A/C but be danged if I can remember the cure. I got into the Eaglesoft Forums this AM we'll see what they say.

Ya? You like that plane? Have the issues with it been resolved? I don't know of anything that's wrong with it and I like it fine for an airplane that I don't really understand yet. If there are problems I reckon it's just me, so I just keep trying.

Glenn; Yup-- think so. Seems to me when I had this once before long ago, it was related to the FMS and Initial positioning input.
