Howdy all.
I see AH2 is coming out soon I thought I would ask here to see if anyone knew, did they ever fix the issue in AH1 that the system thought you crashed your plane if you landed off airport? I loved that program but had that problem so much I quit using it. Every time I would land on a strip I added or really any off airport the system thought I crashed my plane and it costed me a small fortune.
Just curious

I used to play Air Hauler quite a bit. It's been a long time since I played it, but I believe they fixed that issue. There was a problem with causing damage to your plane if you weren't on a runway surface, and it caused some problems with add-ons, especially ORBX stuff. I think that got fixed since I used to fly to ORBX dirt strips and some Misty Moorings add-on locations without problems after some patches were released.
I've been waiting for AH2 for a long time. It looks like it's about to come out soon, which I'm excited about. It looks like there will be loads new features, including passengers. I'm not sure how bush friendly it will be. One of the issues with Air Hauler was it would only generate jobs to designated airports. It left out being able to fly to lakes and cabins unless you created an "airport" location using an editor like ADEX.

I probably could have joined the closed beta that started last year, but I was too busy to really commit to it. This should be much closer to release state. I signed up to get notification when it's available, which hopefully will be soon. I enjoyed AH1 for what it was, but the new one looks to add many nice new features that should make it a lot better.
Incidentally, after looking over the feature list at Just Flight, it does mention the ability to create custom airport destinations within the software. This should make it much more useful for bush flying than the first one.

This is all interesting. I had AH1 myself and liked it, but ran into issues that you have mentioned Scott. I might give AH2 a go when it's released. Thanks for posting this info.

I'll probably pick it up as soon as it's available, so I don't mind being the guinea pig on this one . I'll let you all know. -Scott

I had a go with Air Hauler some time ago. What I wanted to do was set up my own companies that were based where I wanted them and flew schedules or charters that I decided upon. I could not do that with AH1, the program would impose things to do and tell me how much money I had left to do them with and on and on. Not at all what I was looking for. Do any of you cats know if AH2 will be more flexible? I don't want a game where the goal is to win money, I just want something I can set up for my own uses. With neato graphics, to be sure, ya know, cargo on the ramp at Yakutak ready to be picked up at 15:00 or fisherman looking for a ride. There could be sliders for more cargo or more fish or more commuters or more charters or more squirrel skins, I dunno, but you get the idea, sure. That's what I'm looking for. I am fatigued that everything has got to be about money and following rules. But then, I'm an old fart and we are known to get cranky.

Ya I had a time with AH1 and enjoyed playing around with it but in the end I decided it was actually more immersive to just do what I wanted to do. I think the program is more suited for a strict cargo mover type company not a more dynamic bush flying outfit.
Would be great to have a program like Fritz describes!

The early access version is available for purchase now. I picked it up. It's still pretty rough at the moment, there's no documentation as of yet. It's pretty familiar to Air Hauler users, but lots of new features aren't always obvious yet. I'll be messing around with it for a bit now -Scott

I've been poking around with the new AH2, there is some good, some bad. But I've only been at it for a few weeks (but with RL I'm not on every day) I like the passenger thing, that's kinda neat. There's more "functionality" coming. One thing I miss is the job screen, I find it harder to navigate and to see it (colour wise).

The map colors is something I hope gets updated soon. It WAS much easier to find jobs in AH1. I used to set my colors so it was easy to see incoming and outgoing jobs. That made it easier to schedule jobs out and back to base.

Scott,
What colour scheme did you choose?

The line colors in the current AH2 don't seem to work. I have lime as my job color and red as my highlight. On my map, the jobs show as lime, but the highlight is just a darker green.
