Goody. Wonder how many 747's they have parked at this airport... .

Guess, from what little I saw of it, they actually did a decent job of this one. Even have custom buildings in there that are pretty accurate considering it's freeware, and they even have the hangar I work in with the portables that are used for shops pretty much in the right places. Not bad, all things considered.
Don, if you're referring to the airport size and not the city, we do have 737-200's and 700's that go in and out every day, and we've had 727-200F's and even a 757 once. So it's a fairly decent sized airport and would make a good satellite for Toronto, but Toronto wants to build a new airport NE of the city instead. Good idea - let's tear up more farmland and put in another airport - just like Mirabel. How did that one work out... .

I was talking about the city. It's pretty big (compared to where I live!) You have a Toyota plant there. We have a Toyota dealership here. LOL! What model(s)do they build there? Overall, it looks like a nice town to live in. But I'm looking at an aerial picture, not aware of what's down there on the ground! Glad the airport is close to what is there. Still looking for the tech in spandex. I can always add him in!! What airlines fly into there? BP;)

Well, the city is "ok" (as cities go, which I don't like). I don't live there though. I'm in a small town about 35 minutes (by car) northeast of Kitchener. The Toyota plant builds Rav 4's and Corollas I think, but I'm not sure. The area in general is reasonable climatically speaking but being in the lee of Lake Huron/Georgian Bay, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario (depending on the wind flow, but generally it's over Lake Huron), our temps are moderated somewhat by those lakes. That said, it still gets cold here in winter (but it's a damp cold) such as -20C at night typically in winter and +30C during the day in summer, and we do get lots of snow squalls off Lake Huron. Often we'll get a little snow every day for weeks on end, although many days it's not measurable snow. We are, however, in the heart of tornado country for eastern Canada. We had our 8th confirmed touchdown last weekend, and our season starts in late May.
In terms of the airport, we get lots of freighters in here. Mostly Falcon 10's, Lears, Convairs, DC9's, 727-100's & -200's, Caravan's and such. Nolinor, which is a private charter operator out of Quebec bases a 737-200 with a gravel kit here and does (almost) daily flights to Iqaluit and then on to Mary River Mine on Baffin Island. They also have CV580's mainly equipped as cargo machines that come in and out every so often. Westjet flies here daily from Calgary in 737-700's. American Eagle also has RJ flights to Chicago daily (that may be coming to an end before too long), and in the winter, Sun Wing does weekly (or more often) flights to Mexico and the Caribbean in 737-800's (and I think they had a 757 in here one day but I'm not sure it was them - it was leased). All that sounds like a lot, but the freighters are sporadic and no one type comes in here on a hugely frequent basis. Altogether though we get a fair bit of traffic. There is a couple of flight schools on the premises, one for helicopters and one running the typical trainers. We also have a few corporate jobs based here, including RIM (what there is left of it) who run Gulfstreams and some turboprops.
So that's about it for here. Nothing special really. At least Orbx didn't park any derelict 747's here like they did at Springbank (and if you saw a 747 in there, it really would be derelict from hitting whatever was at the far end of the runway they were trying to land on!). Mind you, I'll likely only fly out of here a couple of times in FS (assuming I actually ever get flying FS again - maybe assuming a lot at this point) because I'd rather be elsewhere, but you never know. At least it's here if I want it.

Interesting that you mention Noliner Glenn. The other evening I heard a strange A/C go over the house, sure enought it was a 737 heading South and really low and slow. the engines were really pulled back---- I whipped inside and found the A/C on Flight Aware---sure enough it was a Noliner 737 at 6700 altitude. His plan was from Kitchener to YEE VOR and back to Kitchener. His track showed that he had done this circuit more that once. Odd!! It almost looked like he was doing Familiarization flights. Haven't seen him since. Cheers, Carm.

More likely a maintenance test of some sort (probably a TAWS system if he was that low, but could be engine as well). They do some maintenance here and I know they had an aborted takeoff last month. Probably not related but if it were a line check for the crew, they'd be on a published flight path.
