Man, these guys (Real Air) don't want the Turbine Duke painted anymore than Carenado wants their airplanes repainted! I'm trying to find the exhaust stacks because they keep turning out white on me. I think I've got all the other parts figured out (well, not really, but after 4 hours we're making progress ), but those stacks are eluding me completely. If anyone has any clues as to where they reside, I woudn't mind a head's up. This is one reason why if they are charging anymore than 5 to 10 dollars for the piston upgrade to the GTN, I won't be buying. Only so many times I want to buy the same airplane, especially one without a paint kit! Oh yes, I know, the piston airplane has a paint kit, but it's marginal, and you can't convert it for use very easily to the turbine version of the airplane.

I've given up trying to do repaints on the newer releases. Just too much hassle anymore with the lack of good paint kits. I've just decided to go for re-color and re-register usually. I kept my latest op with a simple text logo I can slap on easily. It does save me a lot of time . I appreciate when I actually have a nice paint kit. I just re-painted my Cera helicopters, and their paint kits were really nice. -Scott

Yep. Agreed. A2A is outstanding and PMDG's of course are probably the best, as is Cera's. But I have been all day at this T-Duke and I still can't get it right. I love the Beechcraft livery on the piston Duke and I've been trying to migrate it over to the T-Duke. I started at 6 this morning and except for about 2 hours where I was out, I've been going pretty steadily all day. I got most things where they need to be, but I still have chromed wheels and can't get the props right. I'll keep going for another bit but after that I give up. This is a LOT harder than it needs to be. I guess maybe these guys aren't really wanting their airplanes repainted. Rather selfish if that's the case and is something I consider when thinking of buying a plane.

Well, it's not quite what I wanted, but it works for me good enough.

Not too shabby - used to attempt some of that in FS9 with a program I got from Abacus. A one color wonder .

Thanks guys. Yeah, it's a bit more complex now I'm afraid. It's what gives us the great textures, but without a paint kit it gets pretty tricky to do. I used to use an Abacus program, but now use Photoshop CC. Overkill for just this, but I use it elsewhere as well.

I just picked up Paint Shop Pro X8 the other day. Still play around with it. It is close to PSP7, but there are a few differences that will require a little time in the seat.

Very good. I think that's pretty close to the ideal paint kit for this sim. Lots of features but not whacky-hard to use.

A friend of mine who is rather good at painting/skinning aircraft in various sims has made a simple generic numbered overlay layer for PhotoShop. The new layer has various different colored rectangles with numbers on them. He applies that to a totally white base. Fire up the sim, check which number or numbered color rectangle is on the part he wants to paint, find it on the base layers and disable his number layer. I'm not describing it very well, but I hope you get the gist of it. I've used that technique myself, and I suck at image editing (PhotoShop, PSP, Gimp, Paint or whatever.)
