There is a new patch for Vector out now, which updates it to 1.35. Apparently if fixes a number of coastlines, adds some rivers, corrects a couple of terrain features, and reformats and then installs Windows 11 on your HD. Get it while it's hot

247,397KB download, requres 456.6 MB of space to install; took less than a minute to D/L. Install was also about a minute.

You have to remove the spurs. Or not...

If anyone has this update, can you select some place in Southern Canada that's not in a fat region and select the ICE option to on, and let me know if you are getting ice on the lakes? I seem to recall there was a problem with that function and I don't think it's been fixed yet. However I don't know if it was ever an issue in FSX. Thanks.

Mornin Glenn; Just did a test of the S Ont., lakes with the updates installed. At 'winter' setting. Erie, Simcoe, Muskoka etc are all iced over, and strong enough for my J3 to set down on. Now if I could just get my LC Europe to install I'd be all set. Cheers, Carm.

Thanks Carm. Maybe you should start another thread here and explain what you are seeing for error messages on LC Europe. That would give us a chance to help you on that . It's pretty tough to help if we don't know what's happening .

Glenn, tested with Global selected and Global/Hybrid. Both have frozen water when VECTOR 'Frozen Surface' is checked and open water when un-checked. Things appear to be working. FWIW the iced over water only appears in the scenery tiles that are active. Beyond those tiles in the overhead view the water appears as un-frozen. It changes as the A/C moves and the active tiles change.

OK, then are you saying that lakes in the distance appear unfrozen while those right under you are frozen, assuming a normal altitude of say 1500 agl to 39000 agl? I know lakes further south may or may not be frozen at this time of year, but that should only be a latitude/altitude thing. Thanks Spud.

Goto the overhead view and zoom out (a lot!) you will see an area that seems darker and more detailed around the position of your A/C. It is quite a large area. This is the active scenery tiles for your position. See screen shot and notice that the water is not frozen outside of the active tiles even though the 'frozen surface' is checked in vector. The edges are far enough away that you will not see open water unless, like the sea, it does not freeze at all. The 'active tiles will change as the A/C moves through the scenery always staying centered on the A/C present position.

G'DAMN IT ANYWAY!!!! I KNEW this wasn't going to go easy! Every single one of the airport elevation corrections that was in Vector is gone after the update. Yes, the Auto-Configurator gets most of them, but there were a whack of airports I had in there that were not caught by it, and I had to add them manually. I don't even remember now what or where they were. Jeeeezzzz. Is it too much to ask to have an installer that doesn't destroy everything that has come before it? Man.
Sorry for the rant, but this is getting to be really "old" now. "Patch a product then go in and fix everything the patch UNdid."

Thanks Carm. Maybe you should start another thread here and explain what you are seeing for error messages on LC Europe. That would give us a chance to help you on that . It's pretty tough to help if we don't know what's happening . Well !!, Your right Glenn. Here's what is happening, as best as I can describe it. ---I download the 4 parts of the LC with no problems. There is just 1 installer. When activated the installer begins its usual thing, then stops and requests that I insert the 2nd disc. There is the rub !! In the Orbx LC forums--- there are several posts about this problem with the Eur LC. I'm in the process of trying the solutions suggested there, but, so far no Joy. I haven't spent a lot of time trying, as there other things I'm currently up to Although, If anyone has had this problem and solved it I would appreciate any help. Meanwhile, I'm still getting some wind under me flying to the Caribbean for some R&R Cheers,, Carm.

That usually means the download is corrupt or incomplete. I'd try downloading it again and see what happens.

For sure. Definitely sounds as though the download is corrupt. Dump it and download it again.
