Air Caribou did keep a King Air B200 Blackhawk and a PC 12 in their fleet for continued use as an air ambulance. A week ago Friday we found out we won a major contract with the Ontario Government for air ambulances services in the Northeast (Ontario). This covers a large area. The Ontario Air Ambulance program is called "Trillium" and we received our King Air back from the paint shop in Goderich on Saturday morning in her new "Trillium" colours. This is still an Air Caribou airplane, but it has the Provincial Air Ambulance system colours on it now.
We received our first assignment, transporting a patient home from Sudbury to Moosonee this afternoon. Good flight in all, mostly at FL250 in smooth air. Weather was a little down at Moosonee, but nothing to worry about. The trip was about 1.5 hours door to door, but we had some pretty major headwinds along the way.
