Well on a rare Monday night long haul for me, I took the 777 flight from Bangor, Maine to Prestwick Scotland. This amounted to about a 5.5 hour flight over the North Atlantic, ending at 02:20 in Prestwick. A highly successful flight I must say, and I'm really enjoying the Boeing Triple Seven. It's a pretty amazing piece of technology. We had about a 73% payload and carried 60 tonnes of fuel, landing with a little over 26 tonnes in the tanks. Unlike the last time I landed here, tonight's weather was pretty good with an 1800' broken cloud deck so I got to hand fly it in. It sure does handle nicely. Anyway, some pics for your viewing enjoyment: On the ramp at Bangor loading up. It takes a good 1 to 2 minutes to open/close that big cargo door. Climbing over the Maritimes for FL330, our initial cruising altitude. Later we'd step climb to 350. A bunch of "front office" pics for you. The beauty of this is it all works!! Amazing the modeling in this thing. It's really impressive once the lights come on. All dimmable and all accurate to the real thing Obviously over the North Atlantic, just catching the midnight sun. Until we got down low on approach, we could always see the glow in the sky Talking to Shanwick Control on the HF A little more glow for you

Part two has us at the cargo bay in Prestwick after a very smooth landing despite a pretty hefty crosswind There you have it. I'm in Scotland for a few days, then it's on to Bergen or Evenes in Norway in the 777. Looking forward to that flight. Later

Very nice! I rather like the "glow" shots.

And it does it all without 'Accusim' .

Not true. They have their own version of "Accu-sim". Not quite as fully featured, and it's a lot harder to tell the flight characteristics of an airplane this size that is on autopilot 90% of the time, but it's there.

I wish I could do those long flights. After an hour or so I'm gone zzzzz. Nice flight and pics. Oh, and I'm not ?? They do have a crew rest compartment you know . Actually, on the longer flights I have been known to hit the sack after getting to altitude and getting up in time to start the descent. This one wasn't quite long enough for that, but I sure wasn't sitting at my computer desk all night . Alllllll that said, I think I'm regressing. As much as I enjoy the 777 and the atmosphere around it, I'm more and more going back to what I did IRL - GA stuff. Stay tuned . Thanks for the comments Bill/Bruce/Jim/Sue/George (pick one <LOL>) (really sorry for confusing your name earlier - I hate doing that ).
