A trip the other day - shorter than expected. This is the unrestricted demo of Ant's Eaglet on floats. Early morning departure from the Juneau float pond - headed for Tenakee Springs, maybe buy a halibut. A still drowsy Mendenhall Valley as we head southwestbound around Douglas Island. Exiting Hawk Inlet about to cross Chatham Strait but, as we entered the "Tongass Fjords" part of the trip, noticed the water had changed to trees. A fixable problem but you have to stop flying .

Lovely snaps! Is that a lens effect in the second shot? The perspective looks forced. I get that "trees all over" in Tongass, too. I don't know what causes it. I fix it and it's fine for a while and then there it is again. As you say, it makes you sigh.

Back in 2011 there was some forum info that said, if the repair wasn't a final correction, contact either Francois at 'FSaddons' or Holger for a texture.cfg fix. I have a request in with Francois so, if it bears fruit, I'll send you a copy. About #2, I have wideangleaspect=1 in .cfg and I try to watch it with the airplane layer but the scenery layer sometimes looks stretched.

It made my clouds look weird as I recall.

Not sure what part of that isn't supposed to be trees, so maybe I have the problem as well. Can't say for sure, but what is the fix for that (even if temporary)?

Run the "repair" function in the Tongass Fjords Program Maintenance window then go to the configuration panel and apply what settings you want. All of those should be in the "Start" menu under FSAddons.

Thanks Fritz. Made a note and if I see a problem, I'll do that. Appreciate the help.

If you suspect that Tongass has too many trees have a look around Sitka. The first time it happened to me I took off and in a trice all the water was filled with these beautiful trees. Nicely rendered, mind, but rather disconcerting, as you might imagine.

OK, thanks Fritz. I've not seen that yet so so far, so good. Appreciate the help though.

There are some scenery.cfg edits that the retail version has, but most "other than retail" versions of T.F. do not have. Installing T.F. into P3D2 required me to manually add those .cfg edits since the file is in a different location than in FSX (different path, same file name.) Very disconcerting to take off from Sitka and find yourself over a sea of trees!

You've got to think if this was a known problem in 2011, surely the corrections have since been built into the 'for sale' software.

FWIW my Tongass X scenery was purchased Feb 2011 from Silver Cloud Publishing and has never exhibited the water/tree problem discussed in this thread but it is interesting that some have the problem. I do run only FSX and none of the "latest and greatest" versions or Simulators and keep add on programs and/or utilities to a bare minimum.

This used to be a very common problem with early versions of Orbx Australia scenery. Not only did people have missing water in Tongass Fjords but also in Victoria Plus and Vancouver Plus! The later versions of Orbx Australia solved this annoying problem.

I bought my Tongass from Silver Cloud as well and I didn't get the tree thing for quite a while but one day shazzam, there it was. It's been with me ever since.
