Well, probably the least significant bit of news to come along in a while, but I'm on my final "VA" (as it were). Haven't been able to find anything that really makes me want to stay "deep" in FSX in a long time now (sorry, I'm one of those who needs to get totally immersed in what I'm doing, or I lose interest altogether). Add to that the incredible leap in expense in this hobby, I just can't afford to be buying airplanes and scenery month to month trying to find that perfect ops that keeps me gung-ho about all this. So, as my final "VA", I'm adopting a bit of my real life world into FSX. All my previous ops have been sold and the funds from that banked, which has left me with a sizable bank account. I've gone back to the private end of flying to facilitate my professional photography passion. I've bought at Turbine Duke to get me around, but will expand my "fleet" to include a Navajo (probably) and possibly another machine or two beyond that. Crazy as that sounds, we've got more than a couple of people on the field at my real work in aviation who have several airplanes. Those aren't puddle jumpers either. One guy came down to pick up his Cessna 182 that we had just converted from steam to glass in his... Hawker 850 (private). A fellow in the hangar across from us has an old Korean fighter jet, MU2 and 2 other aircraft (one of those vintage). Still another has an AS-B350 helicopter to compliment his 2 fixed winged machines. So while it's sure not common, it's not unrealistic either (must admit though - I have a tough time imagining having that much cash ).
My home base at present is Port Hardy, B.C., mainly because I love coastlines and the west coast of Vancouver Island can be a photographer's dream for stormy coast photography. However, the whole reason for having an airplane is to get to new places, so I won't likely be in any one place too long at a time. I may end up "building" a "virtual dream home" out just south of Cape Scott at some point and commute to/from there via a helicopter. The advantages of living in a virtual world.
We'll see how this goes then. I'll post screenies as I get them, although they could be sporadic. The name of the company is called "Primal Earth Photography" by the by.
Well, as I said, probably the least significant or interesting piece of news you will read this year, but just to fill in the hole if you see a screenshot or PIREP from me that doesn't seem to make sense.
