Cheeezz, Dave , tha's a little extreme don 't yu think ? After all yu really only need ta know what direction yr goin, how fast and how High---the other stuffs ar luxuries Carm. Carm - the days of "kick the tire and light the fire" are gone forever. More and more, with my Sim purchases, I'm reading the manual and I've even printed out a few checklists. This modern day aviating is a lot of work - sometimes I have to push 'pause' and go take a nap.

I dunno about the Swift. They appear to have rather rudimentary instrumentation. Well it was a rather rudimentary airplane ala Eurcoupe. Well, sure, but no attitude indicator?

VFR, ... the horizon is out front through the windscreen, gotta keep your head out of the cockpit! J-3 didn't come standard with an AI either, or most simple A/C as it is considered an IFR instrument un-needed for VFR.

Amazingly, that airplane is still flying. Registered to an owner operating out of St. Hyacinthe, Quebec. It was made in 1946.

Apparently, nearly half of the Swifts produced are still registered as flyable. Pretty impressive for an aircraft introduced in 1946.

Had a squadron mate who bought a Swift that was quite fun to fly but main spar problems (common on the Swift) finally grounded it and owner didn't want to pay for the fix because it was pricey!!

I only have FSX so i tried it. I was pleased until I found there was no ASI on the panel and where the Mag compass is, there is just a hole. Oh, well, back to the drawing board.

I think there is a FS9 -> FSX portover of Bill lyons Globe Swift. If a gauge is missing, you can always install a new gauge in these older AC. Thats the advantage of 2D gauges. In P3D, these FS9 -> portover AC dont have VC clickspots. Go for it. Its a fun AC. Try some landings on small grass fields with some 10knot crosswind (or more). Thats gonna sharpen you technique Its not the easyest AC out there.

I don't know if you guys care about this after seeing a Norseman on top of your most wanted lists, but Milviz is looking for feedback on whether to do an Otter or a Beaver.

The Beaver's been done fairly well by Aerosoft and, much as I'd like to see it, the market may be limited for the round engine Otter. Regardless - a breath of fresh air after the recent Cessna/low wing Piper epidemic.
