Message posted by Colin on the Milviz forum for those of us with Mindstar and the GTN *50 nav instruments:
We have now released our 3rd party addon packs for the Mindstar GNS' and the Flight 1 GTN's.
The reason we are charging for these is that it took a serious amount of time (and effort) to get these to work properly, not including actually making the models and texturing them.
There are NO REFUNDS and we do not support them in any way. Install at your own risk.
So, let me get this straight. You have to PAY for the mod on top of the aircraft, even though most other developers are simply making the changes and issuing them to the customers who want them; you get NO support, and if it doesn't work, you get NO refund. Yeah, makes me kind of glad I've stayed away from Milviz products for quite some time now (among several other reasons). There's $10 saved.

www.milviz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4159He wasn't fooling, it's right there at the link above. Incredible. And the product info page has this... www.milviz.com/fs/item.php?id=GA_AddsWow. I was looking at some Milviz aircraft, more specifically that F-4E they're working on, but their Kingair B350i is also what I've got an eye on. The urgent "NO REFUND" warnings all over their web site make it obvious that they've had issues with customer returns, and they are apparently quite butt-hurt over the experience. So now if a customer clicks a wrong button (cat walks across the keyboard or something equally silly), then that $50 you just spent on a product you can't use is lost forever. Seems to me they would be better served by making a better product, and online store, in the first place. Scaring away customers seems extremely counter productive.

Who would buy that with those known facts? Stop by our bridge department. We are having a sale!! This is where I predicted FS would go and it did. Damned money hungry idiots.

If there is a "known" CTD unloading an aircraft, then it's with their aircraft only. I've been using this gauge in a number of aircraft (including those it was never meant for) for several days now, extensively. I've yet to encounter ANY issues with this gauge at all. There was a bit of a "mystery" with it and the A2A 182, but that's just simply a case of the NAV/COM #1 being replaced by the GTN, although the #1 Nav/Com is still "seen" by the airplane and wasn't getting turned on after being in a cold and dark start. If you simply turn all your radios on but use the Avionics Switch to disable them on shutdown, there is no issue. It was not that hard to find the problem and all is good now. So as I say, if there are CTD's with this gauge, it IS with Milviz airplanes, in all probability.
How these guys have any customers left is totally beyond me. Some time back I called them on something on their forum. They said they never made the claim that I was making. When I posted direct links to their statements, they erased my post then PM'd me telling me I'd be banned if I continued in this manner (I was neither rude or factually incorrect). I haven't been back since, and don't intend on going. This visit was to see if there was a mod for the 310 (which I've had since the outset) as I thought I might install it in that. Guess you know the answer to that one now.
Don, you were absolutely correct. Sadly.

Colin is a world class a$$. I've never seen a developer treat customers with so much derision. Which is why I'm not a customer.

The problem with these guys is that they make some cool stuff, and to what seems to me to be a higher quality than many others. As long as you don't need any help (at least from the boss man himself) you're fine.
What annoyed me about them not long ago was the expansion pack for the MD530, it consists of a FLIR, cargo pod and some other stuff, but it's all reused from the 407 expansion they've been selling. Which again came from an AS350 that a different developer is working on. It barely looked appropriate on the 407, but some of the things like the FLIR and nightsun is as far as I know flat out wrong for the 530, it's just not mounted that way. And they are charging $10 for this...
A good thing is that they've bought out Nemeth from the helicopters they did together with the intention of upgrading some of them, which at least brings some hope of a salvaged A109 in the future.

Colin definitely marches to his own drummer and, if it's not your drummer, get out of the way. Trouble with being the boss, you get to choose your slot. Unfortunately he's chosen to be the company mouth. Working around him can be a real tap dance but I agree with Jay - their stuff is often worth the aggro.

See what happened to FSD international. They also made great stuff but their costumer support was extremely bad and even offending. I wonder if they will ever make another addon. Right now they have sales every other weekend.
Its sad though, because we end up with only the usual stuff from Carenado, Alabeo and they toy makers.
