Your screenies of trucks in action has livened my interest. What are considered the best trucking and passenger vehicle driving simulators available on today's market?

American Truck Simulator, and Euro Truck Simulator 2 for trucking.(STEAM) Both are Track IR able. The Need for Speed series for cars, or the Forza Horizon series. You can use an Xbox controller and adapter on your PC, or get a steering wheel and pedals.

A friend showed some footage of a 'Forza' trip through Edinburgh, Scotland and it looked so real.

ATS is GREAT. What Sue says is correct - can be driven by an XBox controller. I opted for the steering wheel, shifter, pedals and switch panel. Not cheap, but I spend HOURS on it, so it has paid off in enjoyment. Asseto Corsa is one of the race games I have. I have not put a lot of effort into it, but plan to. Very realistic, especially with the wheel and shifter / pedals. On the truck sims, they compress miles and time. Talk about a screenshot sim!!!!!! BP;)

Those truck sims are pretty cheap, I most say. What do you get with the basic sim?

LOTS. You get several states and plenty of trucks. There are sites attached to them (trusted sites) to download FREE mods to make it better. Additional states can be purchased to enlarge it. The big cost can be the hardware, depending how much you want to get into the game. I have not run European Trucks very much, so I don't know much about it. These people are a great company to deal with. They are always improving their game. Updates that take seconds to do, and they take it very seriously. Thrustmaster makes my wheel, pedals and shifter. I have a switch box by Sim-Panel. Most new trucks are automatics, so it's put it in DRIVE and go! LOL! There are some I like to shift in, so it is all an option. I enjoy the hell out of it!

Thanks, Don. I had a look at some wheel/pedal sets ... Pheww! They can get into some money, sure. Still and all, it interests me. Hmmmm, have to think on it on a bit.

I actually drove with the XBox controller for about a month, so I could see whether or not I liked it enough to drop big bucks into hardware. I did, and the money dropped! BP

I have a couple steering wheel and pedal sets. They get in the way. I use the Xbox controller too. Sue

Thanks, folks. Probably the XBox controller is the best idea at the start. Is there any other way to drive other than the controller or wheel/pedal set?

That's pretty much it. I "think" you can do it with the keyboard, but it would be hard as hell.
