We arrived in Thunder Bay right on sched and my FO did a great job of flying the 1900 on her assigned legs. The return flight wasn't to be until late this evening, so with Air Caribou's Cargo division being headquartered in Thunder Bay, I thought I'd grab a short run. It happened we had one of our Metroliners heading for Duluth, so I opted to take that flight giving the pilot on duty some time off. Weather was good for the trip, but again quite cold. Little did I know just HOW cold it had been! See down. We were pretty full up going out of Thunder Bay but got airborne with lots of room to spare and started our climb for 16,000 ft. It was pretty much a straight, 1 hour run down to Duluth with only a few breaks in the clouds underneath. Coming into Duluth we were giving the ILS for 27, my first time flying an ILS in this bird and she was rock solid all the way down. This machine is a lot of fun to fly. The winds were very gusty but it didn't really bother this machine at all. We got turned off on Taxiway A2 and went directly to the cargo ramp, which was right in front of us. Good flight all in all.
On the ramp at Thunder Bay, loaded and ready to go.
Taxiing for RWY 25
There were a few breaks in the clouds underneath as we got south of the border.
This was the surprise I got re how cold it's been up here. Looking east from over top of Lake Superior, I could see that the lake was already frozen! That's gotta be a record .
Our cargo ramp was right opposite our turn off point from the runway. Handy.
As I said, good flight. See you next trip
