Ah, I'm having some kind of trouble opening the paint kit. All I see are blue screens in both the psd and dds files. I'm using Photoshop CS5. I'm assuming that the paint kit is the folder named "textures_bump", since that one has the psd file. All help appreciated. Thanks. Er, um, never mind, I'm thick as two short planks today. Found the paint kit with the manual.

Yeah, Razbam likes to "hide" things. I couldn't find the paint kit either until I went looking for the manual. Let me know how you make out with it - it's an "interesting" design, but not bad once you get a feel for where things are with it. Have fun .

There doesn't seem to be a way to repaint a cargo model. If there is, I could use some clues.

Use the pax version and simply paint over the windows with the surrounding colour. Even there, I'm not certain you have to because I suspect there's something in the mdl file that fills the windows in. I kept the window outlines and simply did a fill command on the black parts of the windows. That kept the window outlines for me.

Hi Fritz;
Are you working on a real world cargo model or your own personal repaint?
Regards, Mike Mann

I can't find a way. @mikemann It's my personal paint job. I'm very unreal!

The fuselage in the paint kit has the windows darkened (black fill). Just fill those in using your Fill Tool and you'll be good to go.

Fritz, I haven't looked at the paint kit yet. I don't know right off hand if there's a different mdl file for the cargo version (I expect not). FWIW, I turned the Bearskin pax version into cargo by copy/pasting from other cargo models. Probably easy enough to make a blank cargo template from other paints if the paint kit doesn't support the cargo version.

I was getting so tired of the sim ...... right up until the Metroliner and the 207 came out. I look at the site during the day at work now, and I can't wait to do an airport hop when I get home. It was getting stale, but not anymore. I need to attack the paint kits soon too. Good stuff. BP;)

That works, but the color doesn't match with the rest of the fuselage. I am at a loss here. Well, no fear, I shall keep plugging away at it. Maybe I'll see if I can make the cut and paste trick that Bob used work for me.

Can't you just sample a selection from close to the windows to set your colour? Bob's method will work fine as long as your fuselage is the same colour as the Ameriflight aircraft (assuming that's the model he used - there are several cargo versions in there). Alternatively, make a selection close to the window and save it as a texture in PS, then when you use your fill tool set the fill to that new texture. If you make it a separate layer, you can lighten or darken (or even colourize) the fill to match the surrounding fuselage.

This program came along just in the nick of time. The 207 and especially the Metroliner sure didn't hurt though!

Hmm, looks like I got some purchases to make after all, just to get back into simming I mean. Or maybe hold out until that MD530F is released....

Maybe I'll see if I can make the cut and paste trick that Bob used work for me. For whatever reason, the cargo version uses the same alpha channel as the pax version. So there are windows with different reflective/shine properties even in the cargo paints with respect to the alpha. Now I'm a painting moron so excuse me if this is rudimentary information but you might try wiping the windows out of the alpha channel as well (if the paint kit is based on the pax version). I haven't even looked at the spec maps yet so that might need window work as well. I used mostly the Ameriflight for the copy and paste work, and left the original alpha intact (windows and all). If you can find enough white among the various cargo versions you can create a blank white template and then just paint over it. Obviously. Bottom line is, if you can repaint the 207 as well as you did Fritz, you sure as hell don't need paint tips from me.

One more note Fritz, when you put your paint into the aircraft.cfg file make sure that "model = 1". "1" is the cargo version. Otherwise your windows won't look right. Don't forget to change the load control panel to the cargo model as well.
Again, sorry if this is all obvious info.
