Read this thread in their forum. FLL construction done - extended south runway now operational. Even after this entry and a few others, there has been zero communications from them. What really pisses me off is the attitude in other threads towards me for asking for an update for an obsolete piece of crap. Oh well - call them like I see them.

Looks to me that as of October, the update is being worked on. What the hell, it's only been 2 years LOL.

Had a look in AVSIM and Flightsim.com for KFLL scenery and both have updated R/W; BUT.... on the approach end of R/W 28L the road traffic is just diddy bopping across the runway happy as a clam! The developer didn't bother to rerout the roadway. However one does mention that in real life the R/W is actually built up with a ramp to go over the roadway and ends in a vertical wall about 55' high.

Interesting. Man I hate developers like this, but it's getting hard to find those who aren't. What's also not good is when I try to look at their preview pics on their site, they either take forever to load or they don't load at all. I see that as another red flag. It seems to be a real issue in the FS world - developers by and large seem to think us customers are nothing but a pain in the ass most of the time and that we are here to please them, not the other way around. If anyone gets uppity and asks for an error to be corrected, well look out. You're in for a sh*tstorm from them. It's something I'm really, really tired of and it's come close a couple of times to driving me out of flight simming. It may yet do so.
Unfortunately this does leave me with a bit of a problem though. Whoever did the Vancouver I have, didn't leave enough space in the cargo areas for the heavies. I wish I could find out who did the package but I can't find my original download. I may take a shot at fixing it myself as all I really need to do is add some apron area in the cargo bays, but I'm afraid I'll end up impinging on the button of 26L if I do. Without this though, using this airport for cargo heavies is a bit out of the question realistically. So I dunno. I'm probably moving my North American HQ to Toronto anyway, but I'd hate to not be able to use CYVR for a lot of reasons. We'll have to see, but I'm tempted to email him and say, "I'd like to buy a couple of your sceneries, but I have a friend (who shall remain nameless) who knows the airport and asked that it be updated, and was treated very shabbily, so too bad for you. You treat customers with disrespect and you lose, not us." Of course, that would carry the usual weight that it carries with most developers. Meaning, squat.

Mornin Glenn. I feel for you about the heavy loading areas at CYVR.. I have had Nigel Grant's V5 version that I think I got from Fly Away Sims for some time. Its not the best. Jon Patch made a good one but, it is no longer available. I found that Cargo spot # 60 at my cyvr will handle a PMDG 747 CP freighter if you have a good pushback jockey Cheers

Thanks for this Carm. I'll have a look but I see in his description that it was made prior to SP1 for FSX, which was long before Orbx was around. My guess is it won't play all that well for my requirements. I appreciate the info though. Thanks.

The last update was a version 1.3 to fix some minor bugs, they still haven't done any updates to reflect the new KFLL lengthened runway and removed older runway, or taxi-way alterations.
I don't own any FSDT stuff, though they do cover a few areas I would like. To be honest, I fly more GA and small airport stuff, the big cities and super-airports are catering more to the guys whoi like simming the tube-liners between continents.

I was always in and out of FLL when I flew. We would pick up passengers there and head out to the Bahamas. We had radio work done there as well. Great old iron setting around back then - Connies, DC-6 and 7s, etc. The last of the NAS was still there back then, but is 100% gone now. That is where Flight 19 departed from. Someday someone will make an accurate high-quality version. Until then, the freeware version, which has the accurate runways, is fine for me! South Florida was a fun, but busy place to fly in.
