OMG - looks like something I'd do in FSX <LOL>! Gotta love that Islander. It sure is built for that kind of stuff. Thanks for this.

Neat! Looks like Mother Nature ran out of green paint when she was decorating the area, though.

Here's the take off from that location: TLR TO SHort
From the description: Late Spring, real dry winter, note the results of the 1995 fires, and lack of regrowth after 20 years.

Very cool. That IS the way I fly in the sim! Looks like I need a good Islander. Reminds me of a fixed gear Aero Commander.

Very cool. That IS the way I fly in the sim! Looks like I need a good Islander... BP;) Yeah me too some days. What scares me is it's the way I used to fly IRL as well, only I was landing on water, not runways. Gangs of fun (but you get old fast doing that). Don, F1's Islander is still a GREAT airplane! I highly, highly recommend that one. Can't beat it.

LOL! That was going to be my next question - whose plane is the best. I'll look for it tonight. Thanks!

Good memories in these videos. I grew up in northern ID NW of this area and have flown into these strips in the Salmon River watershed that includes Big Creek. Looking up at trees and rocks seems counter-intuitive from the cockpit but it is the only way to get into the airport. When I was growing up the entire are was know as the Idaho Primitive Area and the name fits. Hunted Elk many times in those mountains. The fire took out a lot of trees and habitat that has been slow to recover.

Well most of the 135 people in the old home town were non-native Americans; IE: Loggers!
